I seem to remember the first two or three went well, but the crusade franchise got a little worn and unfocused and the latter ones were a bit of a debacle. I’m a fan of the Turkish sieges of Vienna. The two sieges ended badly for the the Turks, especially the second one (c.1680) which militarily exhausted the Islamic hordes for three hundred years. The best they could muster since then was local piracy, extortion, kidnapping and other assorted mayhem, until the era of ARAMCO.
