After throwing at ARod several times - even behind him - when a pitch finally hit him high on his back, a large number of the fans at Fenway actually loudly cheered.
Disgusting.
I'd walk off the field if I was playing for the Yankees.
That's pure evil.
You don't cheer a supposed professional pitcher hitting a batter on purpose.
I have NO desire to see Boston-NY games the rest of this year.
I could care less about any media-hype about supposed competition between the two teams. As far as I'm concerned it's a media scam to get a broader audience.
It's not about baseball.
I never thought ARod or any one player coming off the DL would make or break the Yankees. The only effect I've seen the past couple weeks is actually more like a mental placebo, giving the players in the lineup confidence to actually hit with RISP.
I'm happy to wait and see what happens regarding the appeal.
I'm not happy to see fans cheering a hit batter.
I suppose if he got in in just the right place in the head, and dropped down dead on the ground, there would be wild celebrations in Boston.
That is ONE NASTY TOWN.
I agree that’s uncalled for. In fact I would be wondering if the MLB can sanction umpires.
Pitcher stayed in the game.
Disgusting.
Just let a batter come up, pitcher throw every single pitch, straight fastball, right at the batter.
Nothing to see here, move along.
Trying to throw some red meat to the Romans, er, Bostonians.
A-Rod deserves every HBP he gets from every pitcher he faces....
I have no love of Arod and think he should retire and fans cheering doesn’t surprise me much.
The ump seemingly punishing Arod should be a real concern to everyone.
His career will soon be over and any MLB records he holds will be tarnished with the infamous "asterisk".
Not condoning it, but it won't be the last time, and prolly not just in Boston.
Braves fans did the same thing Friday twice when Bryce Harper was hit in consecutive at bats, the second was up around his shoulders/neck and put him out of Saturday’s game. Gives me a new favorite city to hate.
ARod HBP? Kewl. Every time he comes up is good by me.
Looked accidental to me
I’m just glad that everybody seems to love my Tigers. Even away crowds seem to like them.
Nah, just cuffed up a bit.
Ray Chapman? You have to reach back to 1920 to an era where people didn’t even wear batting helmets (and spitballs weren’t yet banned) to make your example?
You “could care less”? Not I.
I’ve been a home-town Tiger fan. It ain’t easy sometimes, but the guys are good guys and the highs are high. Not the super-star wretches we’ve been seeing lately.
The Tigers are well-received in AZ, as far as I’m concerned. We don’t get to see you much, since you play in that league that doesn’t play real baseball where pitchers bat....
:^)
The Yankees even wound up adopting a policy of refusing to deal with MLB players who employ Scott Boras as their agent.
Ahh, tell that to the Clegg family.

It wasn’t intentional. Just imagine if it was.
A blind man could see it coming.
