Whooooo HOOO !

Savannah is #16.

(Actually I think we are FAR more friendly here in Savannah than the folks in Charleston. Conde-Nast just likes Charleston better. :)

That’s interesting because I’ve been favorably impressed with all the Venezuelans whom I’ve met in person.

Interesting. Some of the unfriendly ones are big hulking places like LA and Moscow. The friendly ones for the most part are boutique towns of various stripes. Auckland and Dublin might be the biggest of the bunch although some I am unfamiliar with.

Bali, Indonesia is a HUGE city with nearly 4 million people. It is Indonesia’s PREMIER tourist destination.

The metro city around Chiang Mai, Thainland has nearly a million people. It is also one of Thaniland’s favorite tourist destination.

My daughter lives near Albany, NY, and the folks there are puzzled at how they got this designation. “But, we’re nice people” is the word heard on the street.

I would have went with Ashwabenon Wisconsin.

Home of the Green Bay Packers and Lambeau Field.

3. Oakland, California
2. Islamabad, Pakistan

Clearly, Conde Nast misunderstands the target audience.

Oakland and Islamabad are very friendly... if you're an anarchist terrorist.

In my travels, I have found the Irish, Aussies, and New Zealanders, to be the friendliest people.

It's not a surprise that these countries are well represented on the "Friendliest Cities" list.

I was there for the TCU/Wisconsin game a couple of years back. They were so gracious in defeat. Friendliest people I have met that didn’t say, “bless your heart.”

There is a major difference between people that you meet in social settings and people you meet on the street.

If they know you (or of you) then they are nice to you but otherwise..puph!

Me too! I thought I was going to get absolutely slammed on this board for my opinion on Atlanta. Where I grew up, everyone thought Atlanta was “so cosmopolitan.” Yuck. They can keep it. My opinion on Atlanta was cemented during a two-day trip to the Peach Bowl over New Year’s Eve and it seemed like every resident we encountered was of the opinion that we should get the hell out of their city, the sooner the better.
