I’m a big supporter of law enforcement. They have a tough, thankless job.

But this just comes across as excessive to me.

I wasn’t there, though.

Nothing more dangerous than a vet with a cane!

One unanswered question would be where was the man’s family?
They might have been able to calm him. Someone sure needed to before the police were called. How many truly dangerous 95 year olds do any of us know. Once the police are in on it, it is going to be luck of the draw as to how things play out. In this case another veteran is dispatched for lack of social skills on the part of the police.

He was behaving in ‘combative’ manner, by threatening staff with his cane and a shoehorn. Wrana was reportedly scheduled to undergo a risky surgery, and was apparently afraid to end up on life support.

If the man didn’t want the surgery why were they going to force him to it?

I guess he didn’t end up on life support, he ended up dead....

The man should have the freedom to refuse surgery, freedom means making bad decisions sometimes, this is concept progressives don’t understand at all...

But he was then moved to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died was euthanized at about 2.30am.

At this point, what difference does it make? Just an old White ex-army guy. No need to grab his dangerous cane and assault weapon shoe horn. No need for the burly cops, armed with guns, tasers, bear spray, nightsticks and handcuffs to surround the guy and take away the dangerous weapons. Just knock the $h!t out of the old guy. So what if he dies? Jesse jackson and al sharpton are not gonna do a war dance over this. The feds won’t investigate a civil rights complaint.

Just one more old White ex-army guy.
Who gives a $h!t?

The article the other day where cops in Ohio shot like 140 freaking rounds at the unarmed couple.

Was just beyond belief...

What I don’t understand is why the PD didn’t deploy a full-on SWAT team, complete with dogs, tank and RPG’s?

Policemen used to be ok, you had good ones and bad ones, but good or bad they were human beings, now they are just like a bunch of police state mentality programed robots.

Hell of a way to go. The poor guy survived The Great Depression and WW2 only to die like a dog at the hands of some thugs with a badge. My wife is a nurses aide at our local hospital and has to deal with elderly people who are frequently combative because they are either suffering dementia or Alzhimers or are just scared. Most of the time the family isn’t around to help, not everyone can be with a loved one every minute, so the staff has to deal with the person but there are other ways to deal with elderly people without having to resort to this.

Never ever leave your loved one alone in a hospital or other facility, especially if the are very old or very young. They are too vulnerable, and people treat them like they don’t really have rights - just the obligation to obey their orders.

When my parents or children were in the hospital, I stayed with them 24/7. I didn’t go home till they went home. Same with the rehabe center. Our family took turns staying with them.

When they tried to tell me visiting hours were over, I just said, tell your supervisor I am not leaving, my parent gets too anxious, and is afraid to stay here with out me. I’ll be happy to give the supervisor my lawyer’s number.
