Yeah, you’re right. After all “the race” is just living their cultural heritage. LOL! Hispanic=race? HUH? I could have sworn that Spain was in europe and that’s where the hispanics originated. Guess I missed the revised history lessons.
As John Adams and other Founders CLEARLY pointed out on various occasions, our Constitution only functions if the citizens of the country are self-restrained via an external moral code, i.e. God. The reason should be blatantly obvious: Our constitutional system of government gives its citizens unprecedented freedom to govern themselves. However, this freedom can be used for good or for evil. Like fire, it can only be safely entrusted to those who will not use it foolishly and who will, for example, resist the temptation to burn their neighbors house down.
What many, many conservatives fail to understand is that while our Constitution is amazing and worthy of reverence and protection, it is completely powerless and irrelevant if the people turn their backs on God. Let me say it more bluntly: Once the people fall into degeneracy, the Constitution actually becomes a bad thing as at that point it turns into nothing more than a license to behave any way you desire, no matter how irresponsible.
Constitutional purists who forget the need for God in the equation unwittingly become allies of the left by justifying their selfish behavior. The Constitution + God = true freedom and prosperity. The Constitution without God is meaningless and void. The sooner we relearn that the sooner we will understand the true root of our problems.
If you are calling for more regulation that is not authorized by the Constitution, you need to change the Constitution and re-form the government into the totalitarian government you desire to control your fellow man.

The Spaniards I have known wouldn’t think of being called Hispanic. There was a thread about the ramblings of an angry old black man who said Hispanic is a political term. And here I’m thinking it is an ethnic term. Another ethnic term is American Indian, but most people know better than to call them whites. Funny, they are no more Indian than the vast majority of the people we call Hispanic, but everyone wants to call them white. It’s a pickle for sure, all this multicultural stuff.

If we really want to restore America, the only way is to focus on God first, and on renewing faith in God. Frankly, without God we might as well burn the Constitution because as Adams and others foresaw, a faithless people will only use the constitution to do evil and to justify that evil.
The Constitution is an amazing tool, but only a tool and a tool that was specifically designed to protect the freedom of "...a moral and religious people." It can do nothing to protect the freedom of those who do not fit that description. THAT is why we find ourselves in a constant struggle to preserve the Constitution today, because we have forgotten the type of people that we must be before it can have any lasting power.
I understand, but that's just rearranging the proverbial deck chairs on the Titanic. If we only focus on government policy we will eventually lose the war as the faithless continue to proliferate. John Adams said what he said for a very important reason. Without faith in, and obedience to God the Constitution and its principles of limited government will not prevail. I'm not claiming that you or I can make anyone turn to God or change their ways. Of course we can't do that. I'm just trying to point out reality.
If the Constitution alone could save us then applying it in some 3rd world backwater country should lead to happiness and prosperity. The fact that we both know that wouldn't happen proves that it is the moral character of the people themselves, not the document, that matters most.
They are still druggies and supporting much of the criminal activity South of the border.

There is nothing which cannot be abused and the druggies are welcomed to kill themselves but they better not dare ask for a cent of public money to pay for such piss poor behavior.
I agree. What I’ve attempted to explain (ad nauseum) above is that a “conservative” who attempts to use the Constitution to justify his or others’ immoral desires is really acting in contradiction to the Founders’ intent in drafting it. It is a document that can only govern “moral and religious” people. Go it alone with your own understanding as a guide and try to use the Constitution as your justification and you might as well give it up. It won’t work.
I believe restraining the federal government will tend to bring morality back to citizens. The federal government currently makes it easy to engage in immoral behavior with all of the unconstitutional 'welfare' and 'aid'.
Idle hands are the devil's workshop, and the government made many idle hands with the unconstitutional war on poverty.

Even given that hatred, I stated the it took a constitutional amendment to make alcohol illegal yet somehow our federal government can make drugs illegal without a constitutional amendment.
That is a pure Conservative point of view. We have a government which knows no Constitutional limits.
You make a good point. A out of control welfare state does tend to encourage immoral behavior.
I don’t mean to suggest that we shouldn’t try to roll back unconstitutional overreaches by government. I’m all for that. I just think our priority needs to shift more toward changing the culture and changing people’s hearts, to whatever extent we can do that.
Make that “AN out of control welfare state.”
