When elephants start designing 747’s and chimps begin building a Statue of Liberty I might start to believe that they “grieve” just like we do.”Wow”,says Matinga the chimp,”I remember all the fun times Mumbumba and I had, swinging from the trees, eating bananas and attacking rival troupes. There was one time he flung his poop at a warthog...”

What was the purpose of that crap? Why didn't you just stay away from the thread or at least give the rest of us the courtesy of just remaining silent..........

I've told this story here before, about this big, tough tom cat that my mother had. When she was going through chemo therapy at home with a pump, this big, tough cat (he once killed and pulled an opossum out from under our front porch) became her little baby, and while she was on the recliner getting the chemo, he's put his haunches on her lap, then put a paw on each side of her neck and just nuzzle her and drool under her chin. He was incredibly sensitive to how she felt and would pace the house when she wasn't home.

Then one day she didn't come home, and I'm sure he picked up on what happened from me, and he would just sit on the recliner and cry. He wanted "his mommy," and he pined for months before one day he just left and never came back (he was an indoor/outdoor cat).

I have no doubt that he was in mourning for "his mommy."
