SALEM, Ore. The City of Salem and the Oregon Department of Transportation have denied People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals' request for permission to build a large chicken statue at the site of a truck crash that killed hundreds of chickens earlier this month.
Salem Traffic Engineer Kevin Hottman told KATU he denied PETA's request. Both the city and ODOT determined the statue would be a distraction and safety hazard

Being a conservative in ultra-liberal Oregon at least gives me opportunities to laugh at their stupidity.
They missed a royal opportunity to increase tourism.
That thing would have become a draw. Like the Paul Bunyan statue or the Giant Coffee Pot.
If they want a chicken statue, theyneed to come down here to Gainesville, GA. We have plenty of memorials to honor the poultry business that puts so much money into the area. .
Now that’s what I call a Big Chicken.
See my #6 ;)
That is the most ridiculous thing I’ve seen all day.
In Marietta the first line of driving directions always starts with “You know where the Big Chicken’s at?”
It’s official...We’ve gone crazy.
We have a president who wants to kill us humans off with the world’s worst health bill, and we have people who want to save the lives of chickens. Lord, have mercy on us for we know not what we do.
Broasted Chicken. Have not heard that phrase since my younger days hanging out along the Ohio-Michigan state line.
Wooo-Hooo! The Big Chicken in Marietta!
PETA is so beyond nuts it’s pathetic. And going vegan is distinctly UNhealthy to human digestion which needs protein infusion just like all the higher carnivores.
Real question: I’ve heard of broasted chicken since I was a kid, but is KFC nothing more than the most successful of the broasting (pressure cooked) recipes?
These PETA people really are mentally ill.
Moses smell the roses. The people are moronic.
LOL, never heard that one before.
He’s everywhere...
looks like PETA is at it again...oh well.. whenever peta acts up, i go patronize their biggst enemy - KFC.
