you can load over 7 at legal range.
of course all my 1911 mags are 8 rounds and if inadvertently load 8 I am a felon....If I then chamber the 8th round, I am not.

Once I picked up some 15 round 1911 mags...still have them. Work great.
Does that mean that my 33-round stick-mag for my Glock wouldn’t be welcome in NY? Bummer! Guess I’ll have to strike a tourist visit to NY off my bucket list...
