A woman I know who was in a regular hospital and not a prison told me that when she was in active labor with her second baby, she was asked numerous times to sign a form for tubal ligation. The nurses seemed to wait after particularly painful contractions for their request.

An agreement made while under duress is not made freely, and thus is not legally binding. Sue.
