Knew that Silva’s showboating would be his downfall
I’ve been waiting for a long time to hear this.
Hold the belt for 6 years and lose due to being a jackass dropping the hands. I think he may have expected a right and not a left.
This Weidman is very powerful. Knocking someone down with just a jab — impressive!
I thought the guy would never be beat. It hurts just to watch his matches.
The first rule of fight club is you don’t talk...
I saw this live last night with a bunch of friends. Silva showboat and got knocked by the Weidman with a quick hit. Idiot trollers on the web said Silva threw the fight and it was a fix as Dana White wanted a white guy to win to grab the majority white viewers.
I doubt Silva wanted to be remembered as a champion who got his ass kicked in his last fight which renders moot this morons who thought the fight was fixed. Silva wont fight for the title again as he stated and will do his 10 ring fight as per his contract. Nice to see the American flag being shown by the winner instead of Brazil for the past 7 years.
Glad he finally lost. Just wish it had been Chael that beat him.
This will be the MMA’s example of Hubris.
Epic fail.
Justice was served.
Weidman walked into that ring intent on knocking Silva out and that’s just what he did. Silva thought he had a good chin which allowed him to drop his hands. Now Silva has met Weidmans left hook and realized that his chin is no match for Weidmans short left hook. Munoz found out the same thing only in his case it was a short Weidman right elbow. Such is life.
That headline is a spoiler for those of us who haven’t had a chance to watch it yet. NOT appreciated.
Johnny Hendricks was just ROBBBBBBBBBBBBBED of the Welterweight title.
And now Silva’s leg is all flippity floppity. It was a brutal thing, but given his attitude in the first fight, I struggle with more than bronze level sympathy.
