Edward Snowden : Patriot or Traitor ? Patriot ? Traitor ? Somewhere in between ?
Stupid because he thought Obama would be different.
That's based on my perception that the program didn't have sufficient controls to prevent unauthorized access. And that the access that did occur even if it had the oversight of a special secret court, did not need warrants which would be a violation of the Constitution.
What's more, you've got the NSA director publicly lying to Congress about the existence of the program. So unless the NSA director met privately with congress and told them the truth, then this thing smells.
And even if the NSA director had been forthright with Congress behind closed doors and was authorized by congress, the NSA would still have an obligation to educate their workers on the congressional oversight, the controls in place, etc so that no employee would get the idea this was an illegal unconstitutional program and go SPILL the beans to the American public.
Patriot! He ain’t perfect, but God Bless Him!
H-E-R-O in my book.
The underlined is something that chould send a chill down your back every time you read it. A secret court, aka Star Chamber, is a direct violation of the 6th Amendment, in particular: "to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence" — a "secret court" violates every single one of these. Every single one.
So then, this PRISM project is the government throwing off the 4th, 5th, and 6th Amendments.
The traitors are those who took the oath to preserve, protect, and defend from all enemies foreign and domestic and FAILED to do due diligence or even pay lip service. In fact, they have done the opposite in ways we still don’t know about. THEY ARE the enemies we were warned about. Traitors every damn one of them...and THEY must go.
Actually I used the word secret, but the existence of the court was public information. At least I could find plenty of information on it when I knew to go looking for it.
And if people aren’t being prosecuted in that court then they aren’t denied opportunity to face their accuser. I don’t have a problem with law enforcement getting warrants to wire tap or other secret surveillance of specific individuals or organizations when evidence warrants it. But this surveillance of everybody and it’s not clear what controls existed.
At least one of the documents of the FISA court pointed to unconstitutional surveillance which implies that activity had already taken place that would clearly be considered even by the FISA court to be unconstitutional. So at least preventive controls were insufficient.
Seems his info puts a damper on the Benghazi "killings", the Boston Bomber killings, The IRS searches etc
I would guess we would all know that we were at their mercy under this administration.
How the hell could they miss the Boston Bombers??
I think he’s a distraction from the many (and growing) number of scandals involving this administration. I keep trying to post but nothing is showing up — is FR slow today??
Did anyone here really think this wasnt already happening? The Patriot Act changed everything.
There are lots of dirty things our government is doing that Id prefer not to know about like waterboarding and unlawful surveillance of radicals.
But whats wrong in this administration is they are targeting the patriots to advance socialism and bring down freedom.
So far, I think he is a Patriot.
My government shouldn’t be spying on me no matter what the reason. I have done nothing wrong, and unlike Lindsey Graham, I don’t think spying on citizens who are law-abiding is an okay thing.
I sent a very strongly worded letter to Rep King since he was the first to condemn Snowden, and I am thinking of sending the same letter to crybaby Bohner.
Some of both?
