I think he would also make a decent outside linebacker.

What a great fit.

Tebow on the field with Brady, Gronk, and Hernandez would be a terrifying thought to any defensive coordinator.

Let the fun begin.........I can't wait for his first short touchdown run against the Jets. I hope this is a place that can make it work for him.

I disagree with most who say he is not an NFL caliber QB. This is the Patriots making a sound football decision and ignoring the hysteria. The media dissing Tebow had nothing to do with his skill and everything to do with his Christianity( if he claimed Allah, he would be a starter somewhere).
Here’s hoping that the Great Pushback against the far left lunacy that has taken over the country, begins on the gridiron.
Now I’ll sit back and await the flames..

“The Patriots are more interested in taking a look at him at another position and as an occasional wildcat quarterback.”

I could see Tebow as a TE, FB, or a power RB (Think Barry Word, a 240+lb RB who played for the Chiefs in the 80’s.) Big dude, great athlete.

Mallet has a big arm and working with Tom Brady can do nothing but help his career.

He’ll be a Raider soon enough!

I can’t wait for it either, Lakeshark. If he score against the Jets at a home game, the crowd is going to go nuts.

Mallett has been in the Patriot system since 2011 and is infinitely more talented than Tebow. A trade is brewing.

If Mallett is that good then I'd say a cut at the end of training camp for Tebow is more likely. The Pats may just be kicking the tires to see if Tebow has changed. If he hasn't then his time in New England will be very short.

The coaches dissing of Tebow have nothing to do with his Christianity and everything to do with his shortcomings as a quarterback.

>> It’s safe to say Bill Belichick doesn’t hate Tim Tebow after all.

That’s irrelevant. The owner likes Tebow, and for good reason. I hope it all works out.

Thanks GQuagmire.
Just in time for Tuesday's mandatory minicamp.
Wild guess, it's probably a maneuver -- he'll get some playing time in preseason, with a quality organization, look good, and become a dangle for New England to pick up someone else from a team with QB issues. B squared's the best, love him or hate him.

Also very likely. Brady’s not a kid anymore.

Well, I did not say he necessarily was that man...bit I believe he could be.

"...someone who has played a few downs in the NFL"

Seriously? A few downs?

Are you aware how many games he started and played with the Broncos in his two years there?

Particularly in helping the Broncos in 2011?

He became the team's full-time starting quarterback beginning in the sixth game. The Broncos were 1–4 in the first five games without him as the starter. They then won four straight games, and then lost three straight. All in all, he started 11 games that year, going 7-4. They made the playoffs and with Tebow starting won their first AFC West title and first playoff game since 2005, defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers in overtime that year. The next week, the Patriots knocked them off.

So, he started 11 games in 2011. When you add that to his rookie season, when he started three games, he started 14 games in his first two years as a pro. That's pretty good, and I would hardly call it, "taking a few snaps."

I agree. They are buying low on an asset that might have significant value, especially if the reports from Testaverde are accurate - he said that most of Tebow’s mechanics issues were footwork-related and that he had come a long way in a short time. I'm a bit skeptical, but it's possible and it won't cost NE too much to find out.

“They’re a highly thought of organization under Kraft and I’d assume Tebow will be welcome there.”

All players under Belichik (besides Brady) have had a very limited welcome. It was said of Lombardi that he treated all of his players the same - like dogs. Belichick always has had a bit of that in him, so if Tebow isn’t treated with kid gloves nobody can say he was singled out. I don’t like Belichick, but I would trust him to be brutally honest and fair.

How much of that is due to his team? He's not on the field alone you know.

Tebow reminds me a lot of the last Florida QB before him to go in the first round, Rex Grossman. Flash in the pan. One good year with his wins sandwiched around absolutely horrible performances, and who owed most of his success to his team.
