Today's feature is master of suspense Alfred Hitchcock's first American film and his only film to win the Best Picture Oscar. A classic thriller and beware of strange, demented housekeepers.

Man, you can’t beat the old movies. Didn’t use a lot of swear words, no nudity, no ridiculous graphics.

How did they ever do it/sarc

Thanks. Will watch!

I never saw the movie, but I read the book. “Rebecca” was written by Daphne Du Maurier. It was a very good story by a talented writer (imho).

Du Maurier also wrote the short story that Hitchcock made into the movie “The Birds.”

I read the book, too. It drove me nuts that we didn’t know the heroine’s name!

I also read Jamaica Inn, My Cousin Rachel, and Don’t Look Now, all by Du Maurier. I loved all the twists and turns she wrote into her plots.

I found a collection of her short stories in the library recently. Very psychological! I haven’t read any of the other novels, but perhaps the fit will hit me in the stacks someday.

And if you want to see a movie in 2013, the purge and now you see it are fantastic. Fast and furious SIX is excellent. Hollywood is putting out great films in 2013.

Old movies are great. A week ago I watched Howard Hawks’ “Only Angels Have Wings” with Cary Grant and Jean. Then a couple days ago watched Hawks’ “I Was A Male War Bride” with Cary Grant and Ann Sheridan (Grant was flat, but Sheridan sparkled).

My Mom’s all-time favorite movie.

The author of the Book “Rebecca” also wrote a short story that inspired Hitchcock’s REALLY scary movie, “THE BIRDS”.

Rebecca is one of my favorites. I’m surprised there’s never been a remake.

It was the first time I’ve watched it...indeed, it was great. Super story about early aviation, airmail, and what aviators endured to win airmail contracts.

One of the few where the movie was as good as the book.
