Wondering if any other TH-using FReepers have been having this problem.
I had been a regular on Townhall.com, with a valid user name and log-in for over 8 years. Recently I found I had been logged off, and the website didn't recognize the username/password combination when I tried to log back in. I tried the "forgot password" link, which sent a reset e-mail to me, and the link seemed to accept a new password. But it still doesn't work.
I even tried the "Sign up" link, but get this error message: "Signup is temporary disabled, please try again later." I've tried accessing my account on different computers, using different browsers, clearing my browser's history and cookies, but getting the same result.
Could I have possibly been banned?
I don't engage in threats or use filthy language in my posting, and although the discussions got heated, they were reasoned and no "hotter" than many of the liberals' that frequent the site.
I have also noticed the conspicuous absence of many other frequent posters on that board.
Has there been a purge, or has some liberal hacked the system to cause havoc?
I tried to sign up just now and got the same message that you did: Signup is temporary disabled, please try again later. I tried it with both IE 8 and Chrome v.27. So I don’t think it’s just you.
I tried to sign up for the first time last week, and I got the message that they are not accepting new registrations at the moment.
Thanks for checking.
I’m the same as you. Townhall did the same thing to me. In some cases it would say “account banned” other cases bad email/password. I’m beginning to write them off as has-beens and used-to-be a good forum.
I also block all their clock/RAM wasting ads that slow page loads. If you learn anything let me know.
Glad to hear I’m not the only one who was banned. I’ve noticed that many very good previous posters are no longer on that site, whether voluntarily or involuntarily. A few of the very good columnists are the only thing having me check back on occasion: Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, Matt Barber, etc.
Otherwise, it’s becoming a herd of RINO’s.
