I’m just going. I’ll send ya pictures of the new deck when I have a chance.

No nap today. Mrs. Happydog will affirm that my tail wags a lot more when I have a nap. I feel like Matt Kenseth post inspection.

I see on TV they have covered more seats with ad banners. On backstretch. I think Richmond is down to about 91,000 seats. Used to hold 112,000. And sell out!

I am a perfect example of what is happening to attendance. I will stay home and watch on DVR on HD 52 inch screen tonight. I will probably go to the fall race. Did last year. I enjoy it, but it is a lot of trouble.

The weekly garden thread was posted this afternoon and is up to 130 replies already. I remember when the NASCAR threads did that...

You remember that far back? wow.

Started posting ‘em in 2001 and folks couldn’t stop knockin’ each other over the head the first few years, then most got concussions and moved on.. or .. We were a different place then.. or sumthin’.

I do a lot more weed pulling than I do nascar viewing these dayz. I’m skipping planting a garden this year, global varming yaknow. ;-]

It is spring fever. All of my neighbors have staggered their lawn mowing today. So all day the neighborhood has been abuzz. I spent the afternoon napping and reading how to build a deck.

Should have guessed. He is wound up from the last win and the penalty.

MC just got back home. Went fishing at Gross Reservoir near my house. Only caught a skunk. The bad weather over the last few weeks froze over a good bit of the surface and the fishing seems way off. It is usually good for rainbow, brown and lake trout.

74 here. Earlier this week, nearly a half foot of snow... oh, spring has arrived (except a nagging small forecast of snow early in the week, crossing my fingers).

For some strange reason Richmond always reminds me of the small track I grew up near.

Heidelberg Raceway was an American auto racing track which was built in Scott Township, Allegheny County, approximately 6 miles (9.7 km) southwest of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It held weekly races and numerous special events between 1948 and 1973.

It held four NASCAR Strictly Stock/Grand National (now Sprint Cup Series) and one NASCAR Convertible Division race between the 1940s and 1960s. In 1960, Heidelberg became the first track to fall off NASCAR's tour. The land is now occupied by a shopping center called Raceway Plaza.

The track was down the valley but in distant sight from my bedroom. In the summer I fell asleep listening to the sound of the cars.

Originally a dirt track. You couldn't pass by when a race was underway with out getting a nose full of dirt.

Heidelberg held the seventh event in the first season of NASCAR's Strictly Stock series (now Sprint Cup Series). Lee Petty, father of NASCAR's winningest driver Richard Petty, won his first NASCAR race at the track.

Petty beat local driver Dick Linder by five laps.

Sara Christian finished fifth in that first race, and that was the highest finish by a woman driver in the top level of the NASCAR racing until March 5, 2011, when Danica Patrick finished 4th in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

At the track's final NASCAR race in 1960, Lee Petty won with his son Richard Petty finishing second. There would no father-son 1-2 finish until Bobby Allison beat Davey Allison at the 1988 Daytona 500.

Much of the above from wikipedia. I remember the Linders, Mihalic and Herb Scott. The Wrights (track co-founders) were friends of my family and had a cottage near my family's cottage at Conneaut Lake.

I remember the Petty win in 1960 but for the life of me I can't recall Sara Christian who finished fifth in that first race, (1949?) and that was the highest finish by a woman driver in the top level of the NASCAR racing until March 5, 2011, when Danica Patrick finished 4th in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Lap 247: Newman then gave Kahne a nudge from behind, showing his displeasure.

Lap 245: Kahne, Newman, Logano got into a real tight three-wide. Logano gave way.

Lap 243:Keselowski back in the top 10.

Lap 241: More than halfway through, still looking for someone to lead other than Kenseth/Bowyer.

Lap 240: Nice battle for second between Busch brothers.

Lap 239: Green Flag: Kenseth, Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch, Johnson, Bowyer.

Lap 235: Kenseth overtakes lead after pit stop.

Lap 234: David Ragan is going to be the beneficiary here.

Lap 233: Caution Flag: Biffle spins out onto infield.

Busch Bros. 1-2? Could happen. Probably not.
