Yes, it’s no different as when 90% of the public neglects to stock up on bottled water, then hears a hurricane is coming, and wonders why they can’t find any at the store. The idea that some government contract caused this shortage is nonsense.

I don’t care to order 62 grain ball ammo for 85¢ per round.

Yeah, I prefer 55 grain for 53 cents a round like it was before the election.

"They have chosen their side."

That comment reveals an immense quantity of ignorance to the facts involved in the matter.

You folks who choose to believe that DHS has ordered one billion, six hundred million rounds of hollow point ammunition (known as B6ers) to kill each American several times, fall into the same type group as the Y2K doom mongers and Global Warming hoaxers.

Each of those groups has formed their own faith based religion based upon junk science, unsupported rumors and other pure nonsense. They covet any information or rumor that tends to support their beliefs and angrily reject any contrary facts.

I will not waste my time attempting to educate you with relevant facts. Instead, I suggest that you go out and purchase all of the over priced guns and ammo that you can find. That is good for the economy.

Actually, those things will make good bartering goods that might well be traded for food when the economy finally collapses.

OK OK. it is a six year purchase plan, right?

For those who bought their firearms sufficiently long ago, as well as an adequate ammo supply, we can focus on other key elements of the prepping plan.

Like Lomotil.

That would be great except I’m told by people who reload they can’t get bullets or primers either.

The Most Serious Threat to Our Right to Keep and Bear Arms [Gary Marbut]
By Gary Marbut, President of the Montana Shooting Sports Association
http://directorblue.blogspot.com/2013/02/the-most-serious-threat-to-our-right-to.html#more

============= Excerpt: ==================

“Without ammunition, ammunition components, and especially smokeless powder, our firearms are just awkward and expensive clubs – of no real use.”

“You may not know that there are only two facilities in the U.S. today that manufacture smokeless powder. All the rest is imported, from Canada, from Australia, from Scandinavia, from Israel, and elsewhere.”

“The sole two facilities in the U.S. are the General Dynamics plant in St. Marks, Florida, and the Alliant/ATK plant in Connecticut.”

"Anyone who values their liberty should be reloading. With store bought ammo, one is always at the mercy of govt and the masses."

Reloading supplies have been gone for a long time. Where are the brass, primers, bullets and powders in any currently popular rifle caliber?

Very recently, Army brass was again found to be sent for crushing and recycling. The following is from several years ago.

Had a conversation with a fellow small business owner. He's close with a guy that manages a Cabela's store. This manager was at a meeting with manufacturers over the supply issues. Manufacturers stated that it will be two years until things return to normal. We've simply sucked the entire supply chain dry. Retailers are looking to Europe to fill current demand, so you will probably see more of that than the names you're used to.

My opinion, if you don't have a supply of powder and primers you're SOL. In any case scrounge every piece of brass you can find. Get out to the range and mine the banks for bullets to melt down for casting. Old timers may remember when people used spent rimfire cases as jackets - that equipment is still out there if you look. At the least you can keep your handguns and lever guns (and a few reduced loads in the bolt guns) well fed. Yes, it takes a bit more maintenance but you can weather this storm.

Thanks for the word on that. Wow. Loading presses were available even during the worst of the ammunition shortage debacle of 2008-2009.

Don’t forget that DHS makes huge awards for the ammo to the large defense contractors who then make the purchase from the actual suppliers. I can’t buy 9mm ammo from any supplier so they are all totally locked up by these big orders. Also, the ammo suppliers can say that they aren’t “delivering” the ammo to the DHS.

Really. WAY to many people related to Chicken Little developing a lust for ammo. Thought hysteria was a female problem, guess not.

“How much would you expect to pay for a Ronco(tm) Bullet Maker(tm)? $5,000? $2,000? $1,000? If you act right now, you can get a Ronco(tm) Bullet Maker(tm) for 10 easy payments of just $89.99 each!”

“And if you act *right now*, we will send a dozen life sized ‘posters’ of top Democrat leaders wearing communist party uniforms. But wait, that’s not all! For a limited time, we will also throw in ‘posters’ of both Piers Morgan and George Soros ABSOLUTELY FREE!”

Call today. Offer not available in New Hampshire, Maryland, New York, Colorado or California. You must be over 18 to order.

...the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

The logical argument I've had for weeks now, not echoed anywhere else I've seen, is that the obfuscation by various government talking heads and government policies are creating an atmosphere whereby the market is creating its own shortfall. In short, the "Sunstein Effect".

My conclusion is that this is infringing my right and others' to bear arms (no ammo results in a club).

Ergo, this is government policy/actions violating Americans' Constitutional Rights on an unprecedented level in history.
