A man attempting to rob a central Topeka liquor store with a steak knife bit off more than he could chew Saturday afternoon when the business owner pulled a handgun on him.
The owner then held the would-be robber at gunpoint until officers arrived to arrest the man without further incident, Topeka police said.
Cpl. Chris Sturgeon identified the suspect as Joseph Vincent Eldringhoff, 27, of Topeka.
Officers were summoned at 2:33 p.m. to Charlies Liquor, 1235 S.W. Huntoon, on a report of an armed robbery.

The good guy is lucky the cops didn’t shoot him.
very true.
That is a rough looking 27. He looks like a hard life 40 something to me.
If the left had their way the store owner wouldn’t have had the gun..but hey according to Biden, getting a shotgun is more efficient, just shoot through doors that outta scare the scary looking dude with a knife away
Looks like he used the steak knife to trim his beard.

Cops praised the store owner. That is good to hear. If this event happened in Maryland, the store owner would be occupying the cell right next to to the wanna-be Ginsu-bandit.

I like armed robbery stories with happy endings.
