High above the the flood plains of the Missouri River, 28 men, women, and children gathered to participate in one of today's fastest growing sports. Disc Golf.
The occasion was part of the LEGACY Tournament, put on by Patrick Smith, a local player and a heck of a great guy.
These tournaments are scheduled about 2-3 weeks apart, and are held at various courses around our local area.
Patrick is sponsoring these mini-tournaments in an effort to provide funds to the courses for improvements. The Course in this video doesn't yet have Flags on the Holes.
If you aren't aware of Disc Golf as a Sport, then you probably don't realize just how many FREE LOCAL courses there are to play at.
Here is a link to a REVIEW and MAP of all courses in the US.

Two of the young ladies playing in this tournament took the photos, and made this EXCELLENT VIDEO to put on YOUTUBE.
The Songtrack to the video Slide-Show is AC/DC THUNDERSTRUCK, and the video editing is so professional I am in awe of these young ladies talents.
There will be more of these videos produced as Patrick hopes to use them to build interest in the tournament, which will help improve local courses.
I only ask that you watch, and see a bunch of friends throwing their discs into the face of 45 mph winds, to see who could HAVE THE MOST FUN.
MOST FUN WINS.

Disc Golf PING!
I just saw yesterday the course at Waveland,MS (Katrina ground zero)is open. We’re gonna check it out soon.
That is great. Hope you have FUN.
My husband, Logitech, is a disc golf lover. I’ve never played. When we took a ride down the Coast yesterday, we swung into the State Park there in Waveland (as he said above), and he saw the holes. I wouldn’t have known what those weird, chain baskets were, but he got excited when he saw them. I look forward to playing.
Having him for encouragement, I don’t think you can help but have a good time.
Correction: “ The Course in this video doesn’t yet have Flags on ALL the Holes.”

kind of a waste except people picnic over there and try to trap fish from the pond.
Oh, yes, I know I will. I love the skill games and do fairly well at them.
btw- actual image from local park there, that site says
It is all in the flick of the wrist, whip like, that gets the extra 2o yards on the drive.
Yep. That’s just what Logitech says. It’s not like regular Frisbee—heavier, smaller, gotta get max RPMs.
That’s too bad the course gets little use. Time to start a Frisbee Golf club, and you’re the chapter president. :-)
I guess I could grab some cheapo frisbee’s and bring the niece and nephew out there
Oh, invest in a few golf discs, and those kids will be hooked! :-)
Put me on the ping list please, been playing since the late 80’s. Placed 3rd in the World Doubles in 94 and 2nd in 2004, 2014 will be the year, 1st place Grand Masters Div!
Put me on your ping list please.
There are plenty of children that play along with the adults at the local courses I play on.
Yesterday, one of our group had his 10 year old son playing. He had his own DISC GOLF BAG and at least 10 different discs.
He threw SIDE-ARM and was doing great and having a good time. The child in the VIDEO is MIA, and she goes with her parents to every tournament (no matter how cold or windy). She doesn't play yet, but it won't be long before she can fly a disc . I have played in two of the Legacy Tournaments in the past month, and her mother won the ladies prize in both. Her father the men's prize.
Mia loves to go along (due to the nature of 'gang' play in the Legacy Tournament, playing 18 holes took 5 hours ).
Not a complaint or whimper from that little girl, the entire time.
I have gone to the local course closest to my home many many times over this winter. There were always people there playing.
Yesterday, I went there at 11:00am and there were at least 30 people on the course. By 2:00pm, there were groups on almost EVERY HOLE. We had seven people in our group, another had 10, most had 4.
I hope you and your family do go try it, GERONL.
Did you watch the video ?
There is nothing like flying a GOLF DISC several hundred feet and hearing it HIT THE CHAINS and drop in the basket.
BTW, there are approx. 285 Disc Golf courses in Texas.
Put me on your ping list please.
You're a champ!
I don't have a disc golf Ping list, but maybe UCANSEE2 can start one. I just pinged my husband, because he's a disc golf lover.
