'Long-simmering' tension at South High leads to 'all-out brawl'

That “all-out brawl” at South High in Minneapolis got coverage from virtually every local outlet. At WCCO-TV, Esme Murphy reports: “Twelve people complained that they had been sprayed with mace. Police at the scene said they had to use chemical agent to get the crowd under control as they were being pelted with objects as they tried to break things up. … [One student] said the fights were over pride. ‘I know it’s a pride thing between Muslims and black people,’ she said. ‘They want their pride back for something. I don’t know.’ She also said ‘boys were hitting girls’ and that some people were lying on the floor, with their hands over their heads, in surrender.… The fight, students say, was the result of long-simmering tensions between the 8 percent of students who are Somali Americans and the 20 percent who are African Americans.”

The Strib story, by Paul Walsh and Kelly Smith, says, “Guled Omar, a senior, said he was sitting in the cafeteria when the outburst began after a boy hit a girl. ‘I don't feel safe here,’ Omar said. ‘This is something that has been going on’ for at least two years, he said. ‘I don't know if it's because we're minorities of the newest immigrant group,’ Omar added, saying he has complained to the principal and the School District.”

KSTP-TV’s story, reported by Joe Mazan, says: “Classes will be in session Friday, the district said Thursday evening. The school will implement a safety plan ‘to ensure that there is support for a safe learning environment.’ Additional counselors and support staff will be on hand. The school will operate under a ‘code yellow’ Friday. Students will remain in their classrooms during class periods and access in and out of the building will be limited. The school will be on its normal schedule.”

Who knows why they chose Minnesota and Maine?

I don't think the governement chose Maine. Most of those Somalis in Maine originally lived in Atlanta, and then they heard about the unusually generous welfare benefits in Lewiston and the rest is history.

It will leak out into every urban and suburban neighborhood eventually for a lot of reasons.

I am very familiar with a small town in Michigan between Toledo and Detroit. Ten years ago this was Anytown, USA. Nothing ever happened here. It wasn't particularly rich, just middle class and comfortable.

You can see the decline in the last decade. Section 8 housing seems to be the way it is spread into these areas.

It is seriously time to head for the hills.

Having been to Minneapolis, it is not a place I’d want to be on the dole (especially if I was from Africa).

The UN doesn’t make the US do anything the US doesn’t want to do; accepting the Somalis was done for the same reason we leave the southern border unguarded. We simply don’t have enough people (at 300 million) to compete with 2 large Asian countries with over a billion each.

In a global economy we’re not the big fish anymore.

Somalis who were allowed into the US in some sort of cocked-up Catholic Charities/State Department/Democrat Governors deal, were largely from the bandit-ridden Kenyan border areas and were forced into refugee camps by what passes for a government in that remote and godforsaken country. These tribes live on camel, cattle, and goat rustling and drug smuggling over the Kenyan border. From these camps, they have been dispersed throughout Europe and the US.

Their US settlement areas were chosen for easy availibility of welfare and government programs, and where it was reckoned they would receive the greatest benefit amounts.

They are very primitive Muslims. They are polygamous, practice female circumcision, and tend to be extremely contentious. Their male children routinely refuse direction from female teachers in schools. Their family units feature 4 wives at a time and many have 10-20 children. It is safe to say that the "Maine experiment" has been an unmitigated and very costly disaster for the state.

In Maine, they were settled in huge numbers the Lewiston-Auburn area, which already was economically depressed, given multiple Section 8 housing units (polygamy) large grants, and are the disproportionate beneficiaries of many state, federal, local, and church programs.

In Columbus, Ohio, another settlement site, many of these tribally scarred militant Muslims actually work at the Airport! Their Imams have actually been recorded delivering fire-breathing Jihadist sermons.

Quite a few young Somali men have been caught leaving the country to receive jihadist training in Africa and Afghanistan.

This group is a problem.

Somalia is a sparsely populated country with about the same density as Colorado. Only Colorado doesn't have over 2000 miles of coastline astride a major trade route, nor is it located in a semi and tropic region with a mild climate year round.

Turn Somalia over to the Jews or Chinese and it would be the most prosperous country in that part of Africa within two to three decades.

The problem with Somalia, like most third world countries, is the people and the system which they help perpetuate. I'm sure they would have preferred to locate in Florida if only had Florida provided the cornucopia of benefits and ELCA sponsors as Minnesota.

For the shiftless and indolent, lounging around on a sandy beach on the taxpayer's dime may be ideal. But if it isn't available, lounging around in a heated taxpayer furnished apartment with a big screen teevee in Minneapolis still beats the hell out of living on the edge of starvation in Mogadishu.

I don’t doubt that for a minute. I remember when the Haiti situation was dteriorating under BJ CLinton, and he wanted to force Florida to let them in (in a similar manner to Cubans. Florida’s governor at the time (I don’t know whether or not it was Jeb) threatened to bus them up to DC, and BJ relented. To put so many Haitians on the dole along with all of the others in Forida already on it would have destroyed the state.

Of course it’s widely accepted. It seems every day I hear a someone speaking fondly of prostitutes, especially wives. The President even mentioned it in the SOTU.
