I have a Savage target rifle in .308 caliber. I love it. Without being a great shot I can nail a target at 400 yards without difficulty. (I have a good variable scope which cost a bundle.) I love Savages trigger. The downdside being the weight of the gun. The gun assumes one will use a bipod or other support.
My Savage is around MOA with me shooting it (the spirit is willing but the eyes are weak) out to 300 yards. Put one of the Nikon M-223 drop compensating scopes on it. If you know the distance, it is right on the money.
