Dick Durbin told the NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre that background checks WILL deter criminlas from buying guns (apparently at places where background checks are conducted).
And so it is good to know that Democrats are going to have background checks set up in "back alleys." /s
Dems will also set up "Gun Free Zone" signs all across America in back alleys and the like, so that when criminals see these signs it will deter them from selling hot guns/stolen guns in those "back alleys." /s
BTW, why is Sen. Feinstein using a Straw Man argument when she brings up malls and places like that when she wonders that if we have armed guards in public schools will we also put them in shopping malls and the like?
Are children forced to go to shopping malls?

I’ve been saying for years that the politicians deliberately leave guns in the hands of violent criminals while seeking to take them away from honest, law-abiding non-violent citizens.
By the way following this line of thinking. I heard a story on NPR this morning that some liberal state is pushing to force all gun owners to carry a mandatory liability insurance policy (that door got opened with Obamacare). If they fail to buy the policy or their policy gets revoked they must turn in their guns and can't purchase another until they can demonstrate they have obtained the required insurance. Do you think this has anything to do with crime? Do you think criminals will pay any attention to this requirement in the least? Of course not. It's about making gun ownership a burden both logistically and financially.
So, when Durbin believes that a background check will deter criminals from buying guns, does he honestly believe that criminals will only then from that point on buy guns where background checks are conducted and no where else? /rolleyes

My wife told me about hearing that. I said, I wondered if it would be OK for LaPierre to call him an idiot during the hearings.
