Another power couple on the rocks: Sam Donaldson and Jan Smith Donaldson.
The veteran ABC newsman, 78, and his journalist wife of 29 years quietly separated several months ago, her attorney confirmed to us Wednesday.
“They remain on good terms with each other and are hopeful they’ll be able to resolve their economic issues,” lawyer Sandy Ain said.
No reason given for the split, and the couple has not yet filed for divorce, said Ain: “It’s unclear where this is ultimately headed.”

This is not hijacking. It is relevant. Rush is one of our great national treasures, a conservative icon deserving of his own Mount Rushmore. But he has a major character flaw just like many Sam Donaldson-type liberals who make a mockery of marriage. Rush rarely mentions social “sexual” issues — he rarely condemns homosexual marriages, abortion, our promiscuous sleep-around culture.
One reason is his multiple marriages. His checkered background would make him a laughingstock should he talk seriously about marital breakdown, the spread of divorce and selfish yuppies’ small families (he has no children) that is leading directly to our entitlement crisis and vanishing of our national strength.
