Every New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, a treat. Is offered to those who subscribe to the ScyFy channel - a Twilight Zone marathon.
Being of a certain age, I tune in.
I've always loved the show, Rod Serling was a man ahead of his time, IMO.
But I'd like to talk about a particular episode, one not only ahead of its time (as many TZ episodes), but timelyaswell.
He exposes the weakness of the state in the process. As he reads the bible for comfort in his hour of death, the state representative mocks his faith, depending upon the state to rescue him.
But the state. Will not rescue him, because the state expects him to uphold the view of the state.
Pan
All of this is to as cryptic Asti looks LOL!
Thanks for this.
Not.
As.
Cryptic.
As it looks.
Just darn!
The Obselete Man is the single most brilliant piece of television that I have ever seen in my entire life.
52 years since it ran, and we are just about there.
Everytime I see it, and the last time just just about an hour or so ago, it gives me chills.
It is as if I am seeing a glimpse of our future from our past.
Thanks AAC.
Do you know the episode?
I saw it about an hour ago myself. Gave me chills.
Yes. We are almost there, thus, my post.
I have seen most of the Twilight Zone episodes, but I do not recall this one. I’ll have to watch it and share it.
Isn’t it strange how many of those Twilight Zones smack of prophecy these days?
I love them, as well. Jeeze! It’s great to watch the older entertainment because it always seemed to have a moral to it—a message! That’s what missing in the entertainment today, and it’s a damned shame.
But, God revering man will always win-—if only in the end.
I enjoyed your post. Thank you.
Recognize the tagline?
Here is the full episode, AAC, for you and anyone else who may wish to watch.

Gracias!
Maple street.
Where neighbors turned on each other?
Thanks!
I should have thought of that.
I thought this would be about Boehner...
One thing about the Twilight Zone.
It’s so good that i remember it well and can’t enjoy re-watching the episodes because they already have affected me deeply!
Oh current stuff has messages too, I just don’t like what they’re peddling. Twilight Zone, though, did very well in entertainingly presented a message. There are some I think of VERY often. Some of the stories he did are timeless.
Yes, The Monsters are Due on Maple Street.
Alien #1: Understand the procedure now? Just stop a few of their machines, and radios, and telephones, and lawnmowers, throw them into darkness for a few hours and then, sit back and watch the pattern.
Alien #2: And this pattern is always the same?
Alien #1: With few variations. They pick the most dangerous enemy they can find. And it’s themselves. All we need do is sit back and watch.
Alien #2: Then I take it that this place - This “Maple Street” is not unique?
Alien #1: By no means. The world is full of Maple Streets. And we’ll go from one to the other and let them destroy themselves. One to the other...One to the other...One to the other...
My pleasure, truly excellent television there.
Found it on Netflix....streaming...season 2, episode 29. Going to watch it now! Thanks!
