Not to mention everything else that is going on in the country

I know things are going to hell in a handbasket and so on, but when Whitey passed on, for a time, I did not give a tinker's dang about it. I have no problem with postings like these, I posted the day Whitey, my Snowshoe Cat, passed on to help me deal with it. Generals dying, that oaf we have in the White Hut and the fiscal cliff, we cannot control in our lives. At least with our pets and loved ones, we do have control although sometimes we do not. I think it was Cicero that said, "the average Roman does not care what the legions are doing in the faraway lands but he cares most about the pebble in his show." I guess we are like that, we care most about if we have a job or not, a home and our families.

Cut us some slack, there are times like these we need to reach out to one another when we experience losses like that and it does help to share with others with similar experiences, this is not only a political site, well at least we can discuss other things. I know the night before the election, we were discussing the metric system and video games, I kind of enjoyed the banter and small talk.

Plus our pets are special, if we give them food, water, shelter and medical care when they need it as well as love and attention, they will love you unconditionally. They don't care if you're rich or poor, black or white, fat or thin and so on, if you treat them well, they will be a loyal friend to you.

There are always bigger problems in the lives of other people, but that does not mean we should not feel pain and grief at the death of an animal to whom we shared an emotional bond.
