Christmas is only a few weeks away and most of us are starting to feel jittery thinking about how we’re going to tacklle all the festive lunches, dinners, never ending booze and annoying relatives. Personally, I’m escaping the country and planning to bum around on the beach and eat BBQ fish and papaya salad in Thailand, but I wouldn’t leave without giving you guys plenty of fabulous food ideas to celebrate with. And so we start with a comforting, hearty and relatively easy Christmas dinner.

The recipes and inredients are for six people but you can prepare less or more food depending on your company. You can choose to make one or two dishes from this menu but if you want to go all the way, I’m including a handy document with all preparation notes ...

Some good food ideas here, and the recipes are well explained. I don't follow a paleo diet myself, but I know some people who say it is very healthy. It is true we could all trim our intake of carbs. One or two of these dishes would be a good addition to the table.

If we were to really follow the Paleo diet, shouldn’t there be episodes of cannibalism?

Probably, and also clubbing animals to death.

I think we will stick with pseudo-Paleo. Supplimented with good things like butter, which the paleos didn’t have.

It does. That crust could also be used for a fillet of beef, or even a large piece of salmon, to be oven roasted.

I don’t do the paleo diet either, but everything featured on that page looks delicious.

“Paleo” diet......

New to me, or is it? I’ve been eating `cannibal sandwiches’ for fifty years.

Google and learn. Being a Wisconsin native helps.

I’ve been on the paleo diet, and plan to be on it for the rest of my life. It is awesome and sustainable, as it does not make you feel starved like other diets. It consists of lean meats, fruits and vegetables (basically what the caveman ate before the advent of agriculture and processed foods). Since it’s big on lean meats (lots of good protein and very little of the “bad” fats), you don’t feel hungry!
Things that are not on the menu of the paleo diet: processed cabs, simple sugars, starches (including bread), legumes, dairy.
The books about the paleo diet are very informative, even if people don’t want to be on that diet. They talk about good and bad oils, good and bad fats, the glycemic balance, and how come people who drink milk and other dairy find a way to still get osteoporosis (it’s about the ACIDITY of the foods we eat, which is neutralized using calcium taken from our bones). Stay healthy everyone.
