China is taking the date of December 21 - the day the world is due to end - seriously, with panic buying of candles sweeping through counties. Malcolm Moore reports.
China's most famous book of prophecies, the 7th century Tui Bei Tu, makes no direct mention of the end of the world.
But in Sichuan province, panic buying of candles has swept through two counties in the fear that an ancient Mayan prediction that the world will end on December 21 proves to be true.
"Candles are selling by the hundreds, with buyers constantly coming to the market. Many stores have run out," said Huang Zhaoli, a shopper at the Neijing Wholesale Market, to the West China City Daily newspaper. Mr Li, the owner of the Guangfa grocery store in Chengdu, added: "Lots of people have been buying candles recently. At first, we had no idea why. But then we heard someone muttering about the continuous darkness".
The source of the panic was traced to a post on Sina Weibo, China's version of Twitter, predicting that there will be three days of darkness when the apocalypse arrives.

My thought exactly!! LOL
With all due respect.....1007 years, say from now? Not even.
The signs of the end times have been piling up for a long time. I may not live to see Christ’s triumphant return (I’m 57), but I am convinced that if I don’t see it, my children will.
Sure, but what do the Jehovah’s Witnesses say?
(And the Chinese people are a bit more Christian that we know, because the majority of Christians there go to "home churches", hidden as much as possible from government observation, rather than the state-sanctioned churches. Personally, I enjoyed both, and barely noticed any differences in the services... but when TSHTF, the home churches are going to go through some persecution that Christians haven't felt in centuries.)
You think we export candles to China?
Isn’t capitalism about forcing everyone to work? No work=no food. Communism is pretty opposite it nature. “Let others work since we all about to have no more than “fair share””
Perhaps the God of the Mayan stone carver didn’t feel the need to tell Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
It may be sooner than you think!
For such a time as this . . . http://patburt.com/
The only Light the Chinese need is Jesus Christ, the Light of the world.
May they understand that the true Light is Jesus Christ and not be deceived by false gods.
...in Sichuan province, panic buying of candles has swept through two counties in the fear that an ancient Mayan prediction that the world will end on December 21 proves to be true.No food, just candles. No hand-cranked lights, just candles. No warm clothing (if there's continuous darkness, it's gonna get cold), just candles...
Are you sure you’re on the right website?
I do. What exactly wrong with my post? My idea is clearly pro-capitalist.
It was those dam UFO people that informed the Mayan stone cutters. I wish they would mind their own business and fly to some other planet.
It is not about slavery but choice.
It is you who define it as slavery, I never used such a word.
The reality is everyone want to live. It is a #1 desire.
And in order to stay alive you need to buy your meal and a roof above you.
Under pure “capitalism” as they call it you have to engage in enterprise or sell your labor to have your meal and shelter.
If you aren’t you are about to have no meal and home and you’ll die.
That is how free market naturally forces you to work.
And if you want to improve your conditions you have to double or tripple your efforts. It is both how economic growth and living conditions improves under free market.
None of the above really work under communism and it’s soft forms.
That is marxism explained in it’s own terms.
I actually feel comfortable with the way capitalism “forces” people to work.
Unlike marxism it doesn’t need work camps and comissars at some point to herd demoralized people who lost connection between free stuff on one side and labor&enterprise on the other side.
Forced labor (save for genuine criminals, many of whom probably ought to receive capital punishment anyhow) is slave labor. Unforced labor is not. It really is not hard to define, unless all labor is somehow “forced” (which it isn’t).
I see you are defining “pure capitalism” in communists’ terms. Automatic false dilemma. There are other ways to subsist than being part of an enterprise or having to sell labor to those who can afford to buy it.
And besides, I was not speaking of the capital/labor aspects of communism when I first replied to this thread, but rather the (doctrinal) rejection of religion by communists.
Which one? There were quite a few, as I recall.
“If its really the end of the world, Candles aint gonna help.”
Oh, yes, they will! They will make the fires burn faster and higher! :-)
>>>>>I see you are defining pure capitalism in communists terms. Automatic false dilemma. There are other ways to subsist than being part of an enterprise or having to sell labor to those who can afford to buy it.<<<<<<
I don’t see any problem using marxist terminology since it work so well to defeat their agenda.

In fact you mentioned both “capitalism” and “labor”.
BTW, communism itself is absolutely not about a forced labor at all. A need in forced labor is simply an inevitable consequence of communist brainwashing. A society of liberal idiots whose values are political correctness, whose jobs are collecting benefits and whose skills are centered around videogames will need an iron fist one day.
As soon as makers population to shrink to zero there won’t be any place for takers as well. They will be put to at least some use by force in order to keep civilization.
That is the future if conservatives will fail to enforce their values.
