I will never knowingly contribute one dime of charity to anyone who voted for Obama.

This is a real generous group. Happy Holidays!!!!!!

You should hear the inmates' families when the visit the prison around the holidays. They brag about how many Angel Trees they sign up the kids, the dogs and little Suzy's imaginary friend for. One year, I wanted to teach the kiddos about giving so we adopted a woman at the nursing home. I was shocked that they gave us a woman who was basically not there and the nurses were already dividing up our presents for themselves before we were out of the room. Never again. I'm done with giving to humans. Now, we give items to the animal shelter.

I’ve been a homemaker for over 50 years and didn’t even know there was such a thing as canned potatoes.

Never too old to learn,I guess.

Just look at the OP.

They are desperate for Donations “ahead of Thansgiving”.

They want everyone to have a turkey and all the trimmings. It’s not good enough that they are fed.

“Mercy?, Sorry, I’m fresh out of mercy”

Quoted or bastardized from “Absolute Power” with Clint Eastwood.

The churches bring in and sponsor many immigrants. In my area, it’s the Assembly of God sponsoring refugees from Burundi Africa. Methodists and Catholics sponsor Albanians. Presyterian church sponsors a large congregation of Russian Protestants who dress like the Amish. The church announced that a local grocery chain donated 24 turkeys to the church, the Session said they will give a free turkey to all their food bank recipients this month. What about the rest of us who live frugally but can’t qualify for assistance, it’s always give give is what we hear.

Lately any cashier that asks me to donate a buck or two to charity gets a shock when I politely ask for the manager and tell the boss I wont be spending any money with them until they stop making their employees beg for money.

I have canceled my purchase in a couple instances. I usually don’t need the crap I am buying anyhow.

Every grocery store in my area does. Probably every store in the state. What do do then, live off the land?

I remember having canned potatoes when I was small but they were in quart Mason jars which my mom “put up” every fall. Really good in the winter with some home canned green beans. My real favorite though was creamed peas and new potatoes both fixed right out of the garden in the spring.

<Talk about a way to get people to want to be off of Poverty!

I don’t know. My great aunt got government cheese many, many years ago. She shared some with us and it was pretty tasty!

Do they even give away cheese anymore? Maybe in WIC, but that’s store stuff, not ‘government cheese.’ : )

Exactly right. Most the big charities are run by left wing bleeding hearts, I won’t give them a dime anymore. All most of them do is subsidize drug addled failures, and then all we get are more and more drug addled failures and wonder why.

FReepers old enough to have noticed will note they run these stories before every Thanksgiving.

I am all for voluntary charity. I just note there is a yearly crisis, and it is hard to believe it is the worst year ever, every year.

Yep, they have plenty of millions to donate to BO, they should throw a few millions at the food bank. May Jay z could send over some gold plated champagne

Yup, I just gave $135 to the local non-kill shelter. And we periodically donate new items for the cats and then slightly-used to their thrift stores. Those animals are the truly helpless, not all of these human animal grifters and leeches.

Too many of the companies around here grift to pay massive salaries to the top, then the donations don’t actually make it to the bottom (some redistribution scheme Barry would like).

I pay for so many meth and crack head families plus all the illegal aliens and their anchor babies, I can barely support my own family. I’m getting beyond tired of pulling the cart like their slave. All I see in the future is them coming to steal my 401K and IRA. Thanks Master Oh Dear Powerful Comrade Leader.

For a majority of the inhabitants of Los Angeles, one question is getting very close to requiring an answer, what are you going to do when you turn it into exactly like the place where you came from?
