Canned potatoes are relatively cheap. Sort of like fast food. They fry up faster. My hubby uses them to make home fries. He does the cooking. I mow the lawn.

Our local food bank also hands out turkeys at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Hubby and I will go eat at Golden Coral.

Happy and blessed holidays to you and yours. I will always help those who are in need.... As long as there is a crust of bread, I am willing to share.

Where is all the Hollywood $$$. We have heard there lip long enough!

They're busy demanding that we pay more taxes so the poor can be clothed and fed. Odd that.

My great aunt got government cheese many, many years ago. She shared some with us and it was pretty tasty!

When I was young, after they'd give out all the cheese and butter to the poor, they've have lots left over so they'd give it to everyone. I don't know anyone on our little town who didn't have a box or two at all times. I doubt the grocery store even stocked cheese. It was some gooood stuff.

No, I don't think the government does cheese or other foods these days.

Back in the day, our school lunch ladies were country moms who knew how to put out a spread and used real food so no one skipped lunch. They made the most marvelous homemade hot rolls and served them with a big hunk of government butter. There was always a hunk of cheese or mac 'n cheese. The government also gave away peanut butter so the ladies would bake up big peanut butter cookies or have apples to dunk into peanut butter and honey (also government). That was back when no one died from peanuts.

Well said. People equate welfare with charity or morality. It is not moral or charitable to promote dependence and sloth among an entire subsection of the population. It is not moral or charitable to forcibly take from producers and give to those who will not do for themselves.
