China's new Princess - the daughter of Communist president Xi Jinping studying quietly at Harvard

Xi Mingze, 20, has been studying at the leading US university under a pseudonym since 2010 'She is a bookworm, very quiet and studious' Xi is said to have 24 hour protection from bodyguards

By Sharon Churcher

Demurely dressed in a high-necked jumper on a chilly autumn day, the pretty 20-year-old brunette could be any university student.

But this photograph posted on Facebook shows Xi Mingze, the new 'princess' of China.

As the cherished only daughter of China's new president Xi Jinping, Ms Xi, nicknamed Muzi, is being expensively educated in the US, where she has been enrolled under a pseudonym since 2010 at Harvard University, Massachusetts.

'She is a bookworm, very quiet and studious,' one of her acquaintances, a Chinese writer, told The Mail on Sunday last night.

Though she is said to be protected by bodyguards, she has shunned the party lifestyle of another Chinese 'princeling' at Harvard, Bo Guagua.

Mr Bo, whose mother Gu Kailai murdered British businessman Neil Heywood, was renowned at Oxford and Harvard as a playboy. His politician father, Bo Xilai, faces corruption charges.

I watch a lot of Korean TV shows online and calling people “prince” and “princess” seems to be another way of calling them arrogant or full of themselves.

I don’t know about China though.

Yes. Dramas, melodramas etc

I have watched too many to name. :)

Presently I am watching “The Great Seer” among others, and an older show called “Damo”. I also liked “Faith” and “Rooftop Prince”.

I have watched so many I have written a story outline, which takes place far in the future on a colony world that has become primitive. This will be the excuse why English and Korean become mixed.

(as if that were even possible... then again a LOT of recent Korean words are transliterations from english)

I also have been using a several websites to attempt to learn some basic Korean.

One of them is: http://www.korean-flashcards.com/

I would not recommend you start with this one though. I just fine reading words in english, hangul and how they are pronounced an easier route for me.

http://www.talktomeinkorean.com/

This one uses PDF and audio as well as some video to teach Korean.

I’d think that China should be very concerned that Havard might corrupt her with their leftist beliefs...

Yeah, we Yanks really suck until there’s something they “need” from us, like a decent university education.

Too bad the chinese people would never get a chance to attend such a prestigious university. But, alas, in communistic/socialist countries, that’s only for the most elite among them. The serfs must remain in the fields, or the factories.

“She’s probably less Communist than most of the Harvard professors.”

They probably sent her here to strengthen her revolutionary ideals....

“seems to be another way of calling them arrogant or full of themselves.”

In China, it’s another way of saying “spoiled.”
And she’s very lovely!
