Who has seen "Skyfall"? And what did you think of it?
self | November 11, 2012 | Me, Myself, and I

I promised myself that if I was able to find gasoline today in the fuel-starved NYC area, I would reward myself by seeing "Skyfall", the new James Bond movie. After getting in one gas line and being told immediately by an employee that they were out of gas, then sitting 50 minutes on another gas line only to be told they were now out of gas when I was getting close to the pumps, and then finally paying an exorbitant price for gas after a 10 minute wait on line, I had just enough time to make it to the bargain matinee at my local theater.

I, and other members of the audience found this to be the BEST James Bond film for a long while. It was very exciting, really. Javier Bardem seems to make malevolent weirdos his specialty. Seeing the film was rather an antidote for all the wasted time of the morning chasing gasoline, even WITH using the www.gasbuddy.com special Sandy gas-finding links.

Has anyone else seen the film, whether or not they had to wait in a gasoline line? What did YOU think?

About 20 minutes too long. Suffered from inadequate editing. OK otherwise, but “Goldfinger” it isn’t

Saw it. For a Bond movie it was one of the better ones. Good roller coaster ride, good (and funny) references to old Bond flicks. Decent story. Beautiful... well you know.

4 out of 5 stars.

I haven’t been to movies for 20+ years, or even watched then when they appear on televison. So I do find myself pretty clueless about a lot of pop cultural references by friends / co-workers.

wow. sorry you guys are still having to deal with that.

after a morning like that, are you sure the movie was that totally awesome, or were you just so happy to finally be at the movies that it could have been The Smurfs Go To Rainbowland and you would have been just as awed?

j/k hope gas gets easier to get for you soon.

I saw Casino Royale this afternoon and liked it a bit better than the first time. Still not great but at least it was one of the very few to have any connection to the book.

The only 007 I like is Sean Connery. Daniel Craig is probably OK. Goldfinger was the best Bond movie IMO. Never say Never again was 2nd best.

North by Northwest (Hitchcock’s best) was the precursor to the Bond movies and is my all time favorite besides Day of the Jackal.

Please stop supporting and glorifying Hollywood and the ideals it espouses.

Thank you.

No, I definitely would NOT go to see a Smurfs movie! I thought that was what the Democrap National Convention was. I am actually quite discerning about what movies I will go to see. So, "Revenge of the Ninja Great White Shark-Rex" would not be a movie I'd go to see, even if I found FREE gasoline. Neither would "Sexy Quaker Parrots and the Women Who Love Them" or any movies about hangovers.

I hope that getting gas normalizes real soon, too. This has given me great insight into what it must have been like during WWII.

We just saw it tonight. My first Daniel Craig Bond movie and I loved him. Others in the group liked Casino Royale better. Daniel Craig completely pulls off the role even though he isn't as suave and debonair as Connery. The twists often caught me by surprise and I liked the psychological drama thrown in this time. I watched a lot of it peeking through my fingers covering my eyes. If you like Bond movies, you'll love this one.

Save your money.

The movie comes to an early climax as new Bond villain Adele crushes metrosexual Daniel Craig by jumping on him.

Prince Harry is tasked by M with killing Adele. Unfortunately he gets drunk and forgets his mission.

Saw it with my wife and daughter today. All three of us wanted to stay and watch it a second time.

Excellent.
