TURLOCK-- A Turlock woman has been fired and reported to the Secret Service for her President Barack Obama racial slur and assassination comment on Facebook.

The Modesto Bee (http://bit.ly/TPtRc5) says 22-year-old Denise Helms of Turlock posted the inflammatory comments on the social media site shortly after the president's re-election on Tuesday.

She used the n-word in referring to Obama and wrote that maybe he will be assassinated this term.

Now that we are a Third World wannabe..we all need to have a picture of the El-Presisdent and the First Lady in our business and living room. And no darts allowed.

I now have figured out why the Secret Service did NOTHING about the threats on Romney. They already knew Barry was going to be elected.

I had some kook liberal on facebook claim they turned me in to the Secret Service because I posted, "I wonder if Obama gets a little nervous when around a lot of military folks, considering over 70% voted against him".

Needless to say I haven't heard anything from the SS...But that seems to be the liberals new "game" anything that is even slightly negative about El Presidente is a "threat".

Ain’t free speech wunnerful?

Of course this poor lady must be dumber than a post to put something on the internet that could possibly, with a huge stretch of the imagination and a bit of paranoia, be construed as a threat.....................

If she had made a direct threat she would be in jail right now. One incident of the N word is not grounds for firing in most states, blacks use the N word all the time.

I also believe that Obama may be targetted by assasination , more because of his foriegn policy , I bet he wont fly as much now that he let all those SAM's out .

When a president makes so many enemies it will increase his chances of getting whacked

Not likely but certainly no brighter! She let anger and frustration get the better of her. I wouldn’t give it long before conditions get so bad that we’ll ALL be uttering curses intemperately!

The word “assassination” IS a threat. It triggers law enforcement intervention, no matter who is President.

I understand being upset about the election, and I share her concerns. But she was stupid and just plain wrong to vent on a public forum using that language.

We lost the election because idiots outvoted us. Now here is one who apparently voted with us.

God help us. Seriously.

Jobs are hard to come by these days. She was the manager of a busines frequented by people of various political persuasions. What she said had great potential to harm the business. So Miss Stupid got fired!

It seems like the SS would more profitably use their time by more rigorously screening their applicants for drug and alcohol abuse and tendencies towards promiscuity. Their behavior in Columbia was far more threatening to Obama than this woman’s post.

I am sure that will be required soon like in North Korea. I am sure those who talk smack about Obama may not necessarily be arrested but I am sure will be watch at places like their job if they don’t lose their job. Scary times we live in now.

I am sure that all of the thousands of Democrats who posted death threats against Romney on Twitter are also being investigated by the Secret Service.

It is STUPID to post anything that can be construed as a death threat against anyone who is under Secret Service protection. It is like making hijacking jokes while you are getting searched by TSA at an airport. I do wish, however, that the response to such posts did not seem to be driven primarily by whether the person making the post is a liberal ("he's just blowing off steam") or a conservative ("he must be a right-wing terrorist").

So what? What she said was crude but it wasn't a threat and she should be free to say it.

And she is free to say it. It's the Secret Service's job to protect the President--whoever the President is--from threats. Part of that job is to investigate pretty much anything that could be construed as a threat against the President. The vast, vast majority of those investigations are closed without any action, or, at most, with a visit from a couple of Secret Service agents saying (in more polite, official terms), "Don't be an idiot." The fact that the Secret Service is investigating this does not mean that she is not "free to say" what she said.

Nor is the fact that Cold Stone fired her a restriction of her freedom. She is free to say what she said. Cold Stone is free to decide that they don't want to be associated with such things, and to fire her for saying it. Frankly, if I were in that position, I'd fire her too. At the very least, even if she did not intend what she wrote as a threat against the President, making such a statement publicly shows extremely poor judgment. Having an employee who is apt to demonstrate such poor judgment--especially an employee who deals with the public on a day-to-day basis--is a significant liability.

Grounds for firing in most states are whatever the employer decides are grounds for firing. As it should be.

Bad form to use the n word.As for assassination that's bad form too. However, hoping for a massive fatal heart attack is just fine.Hey,if some Maoist media type can openly hope that Clarence Thomas is fed so much unhealthy food that he dies I can hope that Osama's smoking proves fatal to *him*.

Soon.

I think there's validity to what you say *if* she identified herself as being an employee of the company she worked for.If she's known on facebook by her first name and doesn't reveal where she works I think that dismissal might be unwarranted.

And you are, of course, free to think that the dismissal is unwarranted. But, it's not your call - the business owner is free to fire her if they think differently.

You don't even have to cross a line. They are socialist-anarchist in mind and have taken to "SWATting" people with fraudulent 911 emergency calls just out of spite in the past year.

Considering that dogs get shot in police raids and while responding to calls, this is not merely a "harmless prank" (as well as drawing resources away from genuine emergencies).
