I'm a first time poster, but have been on this site for years. As an Arkansan I am proud of my state. Unlike the rest of the country, we have been moving more conservative. For the first time since reconstruction, our house and our senate are controlled by Republicans.
My take...Republicans did not turn out. McCain got more votes than Romney. Obama got 10 million less than he got in 2008. This should have been a CAKE WALK!!! What happened? We alienated people like Sarah Palin. We alienated the people that carried us in 2010. We compromised our conservative values to try to appease the moderates and look where it got us.
What to do now? There is one person on our bench that can bring us out of the ashes in 2016. Marco Rubio has to be the man. This is a no brainer.
Maybe secession.
Hey if Puerto Rico can vote to become a state then why can’t a State vote not to be one any longer?
In a word.. FEMALES!
I like Rubio, but I have serious doubts if this nation can be saved from a catastrophe such as it has never known before.
Welcome to Free Republic.
Marco Rubio is for open borders.
Did you know that in Mexico, when you are arrested, you are guilty until proven innocent?
America’s future.
Congratulations to your state.
I’m sending a copy of your post to a retired couple we know. They are the old time democrats and are scared of how our state, Californicator land is headed.
She is from Arkansas and has relatives and friends back there. He is a rabid duck hunter and fisherman. She would require being close to a fairly large city for her artsy genes.
Arkansas might be a good option for them.
1. Mitt Romney
2. The LDS church
3. The GOP
4. The tea party movement.
Home run. The rain falls on the just and the unjust, the tea party (what is left of it) being one of the former.
Mr. niteowl77
there was fraud...many Romney votes went to bammy.....via fixed voting machines...
Why the one way door?
I am proud to see the changes in my native state of Arkansas. And I am proud that we have purged all Democrats from major state offices in Alabama where I now live. I am for Rand Paul in 2016.
My wife was explaining to me (she researched this) how hard it would be for us to move to Australia....
"They have really tough immigration laws. You have to have a good paying job, prove that you don't have any debilitating or communicable disseases, not have a criminal record, prove your financially self sufficient and then go through the process of being sponsored and getting a visa until you can qualify to renounce US citizenship and become a citizen...."
I responed, "You mean Australia's laws are just like America's laws? WE JUST DON'T ENFORCE OUR LAWS! That's why nobody here even knows what they are anymore."
If you listen to Rush, he summed it up in five words: "You can't beat Santa Claus".
Yes, you can. You take the presents out of his bag. Then, he just becomes an old trespasser. We have got to start getting angry. Have you noticed that our country became more liberal and fearful and stupid after all the illegal drugs and anti-depressants came around? We’re mellow, now. And the grifters take our money. Go to city council meetings and county commissioner meetings and scream at their stupidity! Make it at least a little painful for them to be grifter Democrats. Give them the ulcers they deserve!
Besides Pulaski county, what’s with all the southeastern river counties going for Obama? It’s mostly farm land.
They voted to increase our property taxes on the hospital district from $.05 to $.12 per $100 property evaluation. That is a 63% increase so ut can build a medical teaching school. Well, TAMU already has one in Round Rock which is about 30 miles north of downtown Austin.
The hippies also voted to add bicycle lanes / commuter routes to various roadways. They finally voted for another method of representation. It will be either 10 single member districts with the mayor at large or eight single member and two members and the mayor at large.. Also, that prop moves the silly council elections to November, instead of May when they were lucky to have much over 10% turnout.
