I Congratulate No One
Myself | The Day After | JessDuntno

I congratulate no one. I am deeply distressed. I take hope from the knowledge that we are not yet past the tipping point, that the margin of victory was so slim, that half of us, at least, will continue to point to the fiscal and social wreckage of the past four years as it becomes the tragedy of the next four. I hope that we will be able to correct our course away from a European Socialist inspired "Progressive" society. I hope we have the strength of our Founders and enough belief left in a higher power to put the pieces together and return America to be the free Republic it once was, one nation, under God and once again, as we were for so many years, the hope of the free world. Let's not be divided against one another, seek no revenge or encourage no takeover of our economic and personal responsibilities and rights. Shun any person who encourages enriching any person or institution at the unwilling expense of any other, under any pretense, but especially under the guise of patriotism.

"We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature."" --Abraham Lincoln, our first Republican President, in his first inaugural speech.

“Disliking,” on the other hand, is active, and means you intentionally choose a position that expresses disfavor towards somneone or something.”

Lets just agree to disagree. I have a number of people in my work life I dislike intensely...but they do not get any different treatment and would be quite surprised to know it.

Ah, but YOU know it. But, if it comes off to them as you being indifferent, all the better (because NOTHING enrages a liberal more than someone being indifferent to them; it tells them they are the empty voids that they are, complete nulls, as deserving of attention as a minute speck of dust).

I think my point was: what do victories gain us, if the Freeperworld is not interested in them? They follow politics like a soap opera. Half the people on here are not actively supporting any candidate and many of the others support “pipe dream” candidates that never had a chance.

I have nothing in common with conservatives who seek to “go down to glorious defeat.” Is there a name for this syndrome? It’s ok to support a Christine O’Donnell on occasion, but if everybody on Freeper supported nothing but losers, ya think maybe they are doing something wrong? Ya think? I know people here in Ct who year after year find a Christine O’Donnell and they never learn but instead are more determined to finally get it right with the latest version of Christine.

There were 100’s of teaparty folks in CT ... none of their candidates got 40%! They made a priority of taking out 10-term Rosa DeLauro in New Haven ... and lost 75% to 25% and the candidates who were in battles and ended with 48% ... nobody showed up. Long-shot celebrity candidates are more exciting.

I resigned from the right-wing “cult of defeat” in 2002. My only relapse was when I went to New Hampshire this year to try to get something going for Newt or Santorum.

Again, what is the name for this philosophy?
