Run SpyBot Search & Destroy. Had similar prob, a site had hijacked my browsers. Everybody stay away from BABYLON translator, it is malware and can cause similar problems. Your prob sounds local to your computer, so I would start there.
I used SpyBot Search & Destroy. It did a good job. I had to log into the admin login to delete things.
