When I go to the "My Comments" (Pings: http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/pings) link on FR, I get this:

Anyone else? Admin?

“Hot-Linking” or “Direct Linking” images is considered bad “Netiquette”, (i.e.. theft of bandwidth). Host images for FR on server space you own/control or use an image hosting service like “imageshack”, “tiny pic” or “photo bucket”....otherwise some Libertarian/RP supporter might do the following to your “borrowed” photo: http://www.deuceofclubs.com/switcheroo/switch20.htm

Run SpyBot Search & Destroy. Had similar prob, a site had hijacked my browsers. Everybody stay away from BABYLON translator, it is malware and can cause similar problems. Your prob sounds local to your computer, so I would start there.

I have been having real problems with malware, adobe flash player 11.4 and 11.5 beta, a program called spyhunter, zonealarm’s firewall and antivirus program and two programs maliciously on the computer that are hard to remove yontoo and funmoods which are both spyware. Fun.

In a nutshell the problems go like this. I upgraded after being prompted for days the flash player to 11.4 on the firefox browser last month. Since then the 15.0.4 FF browser kept freezing and crashing. The flash videos would collapse and give an error. On Further research this problem was all too common with flash and firefox this year after various updates and there isn’t one particular solution by various different attempts to fix it by both adobe and mozilla.

It’s a real long story but I will say that what is working for now is downgrading the flash player plugin to 10.0.3, which I downloaded through adobe’s site in a link at the forums as a fix, in Firefox 16.0.2, installing 11.5 beta on the Internet Explorer 10, and deleting older versions of firefox. I pray nothing happens on IE with flash because I need it up to date with the latest flash player to see some video content like at Fox News and videos linked on Facebook which require 11.4 or above to view. But now I can see dailymotion and youtube on firefox without crashes.

But I then found I had malware on the computer because I found funmoods and yontoo installed on the computer along with other things that were easier to delete like shop to win. But what also gave it away was website addresses and search engine links redirecting to the wrong sites.

All this lead to me running malware bytes anti malware program on Friday. After a complete scan of 5 hrs. It found plenty of infections which I promptly killed. It wanted a reboot. Upon rebooting, I got a black screen of death. The OS could not load as all I got was a black screen. Another long story.

Well, the first solution ended up being me going into safe mode and doing a system restore. Obviously it ruined the flash player settings which later I had to fix. Well, that was not all. I got into the OS without problems but it started running super slow and programs were unresponsive after ten minutes of use. So after another long set of attempted fixes, I was back in safe mode with command prompt looking at the internet.

I ended up reading about a program called combofix cleaning out malware. So I ran it. It found and clean a lot of things, but first before it even ran urt gave me an error.

The program could not run with zonealarm’s anti-virus and firewall program on. More about why it was installed on the computer later. So I started thinking it over and decided it would be hard to deactivate the program without it still having problems with Combofix. So I uninstalled or deleted it through safe mode. And did a reboot. Then sure enough it went into Windows 7 OS without any problems. The OS worked perfectly after that. It was no longer slow and the programs did not freeze.

Then I ran combofix. It really cleaned the computer. Got rid of a lot of junk. Among them was a hard to find file to a hacking program AMMY. That is another story.

The reason I had AMMY installed on the computer was due to making a bone headed mistake. One of my yahoo email accounts was compromised. I could not log into it. I was prompted to answer security questions. But I got one odd question. It wanted information I could not for the life of me answer. For privacy reasons I refuse to mention what the question was. But there was no way I would know the answer.

Long story short. I tried to find a number to call yahoo. Some numbers I had found were deactivated. I sent a email which never went through and had it sent back as unable to deliver. I tried finding someone to get a hold of online and could not. Well, I kept searching for a number to be able to talk to someone. As you should know the business department that handles accounts with a companies using yahoo products wouldn’t work so that number I did not call and so on. I needed a customer service number. Never did find a good working number.

One number I tried ended up being automated and when I clicked the options I needed it gave a dial tone and hanged up on me. Yahoo is a POS company. And I’ll prove it some more.

I found a number that yahoo endorsed to a computer repair group called live technicans. I recommend to never call them up like I did in September. They not only did not care to fix my email situation, there was nothing they could do about it. Instead they kept prompting me to check my computer for errors and that I would need to spend $200 dollars to buy products to keep me safe. then the guy who sounded Hindu wnated me to install AMMY so that he could see my computer. I nearly jumped off the seat. The guy was frightening me.

But I went along and he hacked right into my computer. The guy took control of the machine. He then killed my background desktop image of the Grand Canyon and he started messing with the settings. he ran a virus program and was forcing to pay for the full version of AVG anti-virus software. He also wanted me to pay him some cash to continue. He was forcing me to fax information that I would not do. I don’t even have a fax machine. So then he wanted me to print it and scan it in. I refused to do that too. So i really felt this idiot was going to destroy the computer so I hanged up.

Then I unisntalled the program AMMY the best I could, but I knew there was a file in their somewhere. Luckily, installing combofix got rid of it. But I was so worried about him hacking me and spying that I added at the time zonealarm.

But the funmoods and yontoo programs still remain. I tried a program called spyhunter but it was pay. Had to uninstall it and read that some people thing it is a malicious porgram. So I ran combo fix again and malware bytes. I had no problems upon rebooting this time. But I use zonealarm no more. I have to figure out what to do next.

But, I did install an add-on for Fire fox that helps with redircting sites and I aim to test Opera or chrome to see which one I like to use as another back up browser.

As for yahoo. I ditched it except for one working email account and flickr. I have other emails with google. But my U-verse internet account is also with yahoo. So be it. I do go into the yahoo sports section to read articles.

And that is the story. I hope funmoods and yontoo junk are gone for good because both softwares were found it in both malware bytes and combofix and it was deleted.

Not saure if I will get sites re-directed still or what to do for a firewall. But IO think I will install the free avg anti-virus versiona gain updated.

I used SpyBot Search & Destroy. It did a good job. I had to log into the admin login to delete things.

I tried Google Chrome about a year ago. It refused to open FR so I deleted it and went to Firefox.

"...That’s me. Making friends wherever I go..."

You bet, pal! I knew the alert was bogus when it came up (only once).

Hell, with all the problems JimRob's having, and those of my own doing, I'm just damned happy to be here at all!

Thanks, Nachum! .............................................. FRegards

Not sure. It might have been a site I clicked on that gave me problems. I fixed it. But I did a lot of stuff last night. Ran various programs to clean spam including the spybot search and destroy site that was suggested in the post before mine. All the programs found things to clean up. I also had to create a login for the admin settings because one of the programs needed to go into it to clean out the bad files. Now I get a login with two accounts to login on startup.

Then I rest the Firefox browser to boot. Now I hope things are fixed. We’ll see because sometimes the links on search engine freeze for about 22 seconds. And I have like 5 programs installed to monitor spyware and spam. Lavasoft’s Adware program came with a anti-virus for free. They a free version, an upgrade version with extra protection and the pro version has a firewall.

Correction: They have a free version, an upgrade version with extra protection and the pro version has a firewall.

Also the site I clicked on that I think installed malware was a fake site telling me I had no adobe plugin and click on it to run things. I think I got the link on youtube last week. But I did actually have a plugin, however it was just not the latest 11.5 or 11.4 which also works with sites that previous versions do not work with. As I mentioned in my original post. That didn’t help when I clicked on it.

Also after the reset I had re-install the plugins to the way I had them on FF before. The main reason is it had no plugin found. It was a reset.

I will say I had various different situations. The AMMY program was one. Various things that each program found. At the moment I went blank on things. And I am not thinking clearly. So at another time I may update this.

Oh yeah I got the funmoods and yontoo programs cleaned. I also had various spyware files on cache erased. Resetting Fire fox is not the best solution, but it worked. I feel that while it worked and I found it on a site with various tips and solutions. Ansd it helped the guy who had problems there. Now I think it had a brain fart. It could be the plugins or the system settings. Because now sometimes the browser freezes 15 to 25 seconds when I do things like post replies on free republic or click links or change websites. So I have a whole new problem. The memory is fine. I did a test.

I am also unsure if running all these programs might have something to do with it. But I read a site that said since it is hard to detect that sometimes you have to run various programs to find what is causing problems. I had a list of more. But I refused to use them.
