Might someone remember that when Lucas wrote ou6t his original ‘book’, “Star Wars”, there were to be nine chapters. He started in the middle, brought in the first three, and now to finish the whole timeline.
All the still-living-in-book-form characters have developed, and have offspring. Han and Leia are parents of twins. I know there was an interest in Luke’s life, but all that comes to mind is Mara Jade, the now-deceased-emperor’s shadowy character, known throughout as “The Right Hand of The Emperor”. Yes, there have already been books about Han and Leia flitting about, since those left behind in the Empire wanted their heads. There was a writing where the Jedi Academy was started again. There was, also, a writing that those pesky Sith Lords never truly dissolved, but those that were ‘wannabe’s’ found a master, and continued their training.
Please figure that the “Star Wars” book series has been in existence since 1983, and every book that has been submitted to be published had to have the stamp of approval from Lucas. So, the tree is very ripe with many storylines, plots, and subplots.
As to whom would be chosen for the characters, with Disney now owning the whole mess, and with their first multidimensional CGI in “Brave” (watch how a loose strand of hair flits in the wind), that just might be the direction they would go. Character voice-overs are cheaper than those performing on screen. Also, Mark Hamill made his mark as the voice-over of The Joker. The precedence has been set.
