Who should play Luke, Leia and Han Solo in 'Star Wars 7'? Hollywood weighs in
Fox News ^ | 11/1/2012 | Hollie McKay

I don't know out rules on Fox, but suffice it to say they mention a bunch of actors and actresses I have never heard of.

TOPICS: Cheese, Moose, Sister; Conspiracy; TV/Movies
KEYWORDS: starwars; starwars7; starwarsvii
I am interested in what people think. I can't think of anyone right this second but Justin Beeber as R2D2 might work.

This will be hard to do, considering how I will expect the original actors reprising their roles, even though that’s rather implausible after all these years.

Whoever they choose have a rather tough act to follow. They should have made sequels before prequels IMO.

It was sort of implied at the end of 6 that Han and Leia would get together. They could include the original actors if they focused on their kids and the next generation. Luke could be married as well, and his kids would be involved, or Uncle Luke can train Leia’s kids like Ben Kenobi did.

I have no idea who should play the characters, but there are some people the fans are backing for the important job of director.

One of the names coming up again and again is...Brad Bird. Along with that, Guillermo Del Toro and even Peter Jackson have been mentioned. If you don’t have a good director (and writer for that matter), it isn’t going to matter who they get to play the parts.

...they mention a bunch of actors and actresses I have never heard of.

Their suggestions:

Nina Dobrev, Lilly Collins, or Rooney Mara as Princess Leia.

Anton Yelchin, Liam Hemsworth, or Emilie Hirsch as Luke Skywalker.

Ryan Gosling as Han Solo ("He’s got the athleticism and the sensitivity too.”)

I haven't heard of a single one of these people...and do we really want a "sensitive" Han Solo?

Even episode VI, "Return of the Jedi", had some bad portents for the future of Star Wars...burping jokes, cute widdle Ewoks...

As I put it when I first heard there would be prequels, "I've got a bad feeling about this".

All of that came to pass in the rich expanded universe bibliography of Lucas-approved literature over the past 20 years, beginning with the "Thrawn" trilogy. Han and Leia's children grew up to be Jedi but their son Jacen turned to the Dark Side and became Darth Caedus. He killed Luke's wife Mara Jade before his sister Jaina Solo kills him. Good stuff.

I was aware that there were books so there’s a storyline, but it depends upon where Movie 7 would pick up. Too far along and the original characters wouldn’t matter much.

Maybe VII will have them as the grandparents of a new generation of Jedi's.

I think Moochelle could easily play the granddaughter of Wookie.

Might someone remember that when Lucas wrote ou6t his original ‘book’, “Star Wars”, there were to be nine chapters. He started in the middle, brought in the first three, and now to finish the whole timeline.

All the still-living-in-book-form characters have developed, and have offspring. Han and Leia are parents of twins. I know there was an interest in Luke’s life, but all that comes to mind is Mara Jade, the now-deceased-emperor’s shadowy character, known throughout as “The Right Hand of The Emperor”. Yes, there have already been books about Han and Leia flitting about, since those left behind in the Empire wanted their heads. There was a writing where the Jedi Academy was started again. There was, also, a writing that those pesky Sith Lords never truly dissolved, but those that were ‘wannabe’s’ found a master, and continued their training.

Please figure that the “Star Wars” book series has been in existence since 1983, and every book that has been submitted to be published had to have the stamp of approval from Lucas. So, the tree is very ripe with many storylines, plots, and subplots.

As to whom would be chosen for the characters, with Disney now owning the whole mess, and with their first multidimensional CGI in “Brave” (watch how a loose strand of hair flits in the wind), that just might be the direction they would go. Character voice-overs are cheaper than those performing on screen. Also, Mark Hamill made his mark as the voice-over of The Joker. The precedence has been set.

As a former Air Force member, learning fighter aircraft radar maintenance, during the year “Star Wars” premiered in Denver, CO.:

“May the (da Schwartz) Force Be With You!”

(what a woild! what a woild! what a woild!)
