Which is why I would not trust a black surgeon in a million years....Find out if he was ever a medic in the Army, or a Corpsman in the Marines, first. Our Medic, whom I rate all my GP’s against, was black and performed crap under fire most Doctors wouldn’t do in an emergency room. He got out, got his GI Bill and caught the attention of ‘someone’ who sent him on to be one of the most highly touted oncologista in his state. I’ll never forget when I caught the flu and strep throat at a FB and he reached in his locker and brought out a fifth of Jim Beam, a handful of Momma’s anise Christmas candy and said “Get some hot water, drink as much as you can with a mouthful of this candy, grab 12 hrs. of sleep and get on that 60. You’re the best we got up here.”
Did it help, did you wake up feeling better? (and thank you for your service!)
Thank you for sticking up for your friend. We all know black people whose ability and work ethic is way above average. Unfortunately, we also run into a lot of AA hires who manage to cast an aura of doubt on the achievements of all blacks.
There are a lot of really competent practitioners in every field of endeavor who would never ace the SAT, be they working in medicine, law, engineering or finance, just as their are those who thrive in an academic setting but are completely helpless in the real world. However. Obama is no example of the former and Romney is no example of the latter.
For the most part academic achievement is a strong predictor of professional achievement, which is why companies like to see a candidates transcripts.
