Newt Gingrich Fundraising For Embattled Todd Akin
ABC NEWS ^ | September 19, 2012 | Elicia Dover

Newt Gingrich will be in St. Louis on Monday fundraising for Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin, a source close to the former House speaker confirmed.

>snip<

“I think Todd Akin was the choice of the people in Missouri, and Todd Akin has publicly apologized,” Gingrich said. “I just think people ought to be a little cautious about saying the voters of Missouri don’t count.”

Rick Tyler, one of Gingrich’s longest serving aides and former member of Gingrich’s super PAC, “Winning Our Future,” is now working on Akin’s campaign.

Currently Akin is being outspent 10 to 1. One source told ABC News that Akin booked only $50,000 in TV advertisements for next week, with only one to two stations per market and no cable. In contrast, McCaskill is running $500,000 per week in both broadcast and cable.

Good!!! I hadn’t read that. Thank you for the information.

I also love Jim DeMint.

My sarcasm was amimed at the GOPe not you.

They’ve been lecturing us for years it’s our conservative duty to support all Rs. I’d say this is the last straw except that straw was borken years ago for me.

“Karl Rove and the GOP are willing to cede the seat to a Democrat rather than not get their way.” YUP that’s the problem. Un-freakin’-believable!

Yup, and I don't even like the guy. At least you can count on Gingrich to defer to conservatism when its one of the choices on the table.

If only Reince Priebus and John Cornyn thought that way.

No, I understand full what you said. But it no longer matters. Akin is the candidate, period. Makes no difference how we got here. We're here now. Reality.

But again. could not your tagline apply to Akin vs. McCaskill as well?

I gotta agree with you on that.

Akin wasn’t my candidate in the primary and I think his comments were despicable. (IMO what he was getting at was if it was a ‘legitimate’ rape that the woman didn’t enjoy, her body would reject a pregnancy, and thus real pregnant rape victims don’t exist as a category, thus negating the need to consider them in the abortion question.)

But it’s clear that the GOPe had already targeted him and used this as a beyond flimsy excuse to first try to bump him, but now make an example of him to any candidate and pol who might start thinking other than exactly what they tell him or her to think.

The enemy of my enemy in this case becomes my friend.

Who knows? Gingrich’s efforts might give him a razor-thin victory that would give the GOP the Senate—however little the GOPe deserves it.

Yeah, as the world dissolves around us, we can smugly announce the we didn't support a man that would vote as we would vote about 95% of the time. We can take pleasure when the she devil votes against us 100% of the time. At least we will have crushed the guy that made a stupid mistake.

This is the same syndrome we have with Romney. He's a Mormon, he's too rich, he's too something, so I'd rather vote for a communist, Muslim, that wasn't even born here, that is dismantling our country. That'll show them.

Cornyn is the sole reason why I will never give $$ to the Senatorial Committee.

He’s so establishment he blends in with the furniture.

“He can win this thing. Karl Rove and the GOPe are willing to cede the seat to a Democrat rather than not get their way.”

You forgot to mention Sarah Palin. She also wants him gone.

Hey, Sarah. You don’t speak for a lot of us. Many of us think for ourselves.

Can you imagine if Newt were up against Obumer, at this point he would be pounding him relentlessly .He is a good man and he will serve Akin well.

He can win this thing.

I do not buy that a majority Missouri voters, who dislike obama, are going to cast a vote for Romney, or against obama and his policies, then turn around and not cast one against McCaskill. That's especially true, when the person running against her has a good Conservative record; tot he point of buckig the GOP at time in House votes.

The only way Akin loses is if the GOP loses Missouri to obama.

If we take one issue alone, that being RKBA, there is simply NO comparison between Akin and McCaskill. Akin merits 'A' rating from Gunowners of America. McCaskill gets a big fat 'F' from GOA.

I could run down virtually every issue and the gap between Akin and Ma is as wide as the Grand Canyon. There is simply no area where they share similar beliefs. No "gray area."

That being said, people who share common interests need to put aside any ill feelings they have toward Akin and get out and vote for him! No sane person desires SIX more years of Mother McCaskill!

Hey, I guess you can't read, I already said it would.

I'm simply disagreeing with the bots here who claim that Akin didn't bring this on himself entirely by himself.

His gaffe was truly awful . . .

BS. Given the context of his remarks He spoke the truth, and you have neither the intellectual or testicular fortitude to deal with it. If anything, he should not have apologized but rubbed it in the face of liberal and moderate morons alike. But that's okay. We'll carry the race without them, and without you.

Sorry, that's delusional. It was a huge gaffe, totally incorrect biologically and it put a sign on his back saying "I'm with stupid".

Enough of this nonsense, you all can keep pretending he didn't make a huge mistake, he didn't really make his own bed by staying in, it's just the fault of the GOPe like Michelle Malkin and Mark Levin........

If I were in MO I'd vote for him, fortunately I get to vote for someone somewhere else who is also trying to take out a democrat pig who didn't make that kind of error. Just don't tell me Akin wasn't at fault for saying something stupid, that's delusional.

Well, guess I can't read as I do not see where you said, specifically, that your tagline could apply to Akin vs. McCaskill as well. Only that you now support him.

And that is fine.

The delusion resides with those who refuse to consider context and intent. Add to that fear of liberals and the media. Please, let pussies and mendacious ignoramuses stay home on 11/6.
