Thompson says Akin should leave Senate race

Republican Senate candidate Tommy Thompson is now calling on Republican Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin to drop out of the race.

Thompson on Monday initially condemned comments Akin made in an interview over the weekend that women's bodies are able to prevent pregnancies in cases of what he called "a legitimate rape."

But Thompson said whether Akin gets out of the race should be left to him and voters in Missouri.

As pressure grows on Akin to get out of the race, Thompson on Tuesday says his apologizing is not enough and Akin should step aside immediately.

Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson was one of the first elected officials on Monday to call on Akin to get out of the race against incumbent Democrat Claire McCaskill.

And, thanks to Akin, we may well write off the White House.

Akin is so stooopid! He actually used the phrase “legitimate rape” while referring to criminal (illegal, illegitimate) behavior. Not only that, he implies if a woman becomes pregnant during this illegal behavior, she must have been an active participant in it so it really wasn’t rape. My BP is rising—I have a headache. I can’t stand most politicians!

And Thompson should stop pimping the national popular vote.

Maybe you all can help me out here.

Who is in the Missouri wings that can beat McCaskill? Anyone?

If Lisa Murkowsky could win her Senate seat in AK with write-in votes, why can’t the GOP in MO get behind one write-in candidate, and defeat the selfish SOB, Akin, who cares for no one but himself.

Tommy boy isn’t helping the situation. He should keep his own mouth shut and not help this fire to keep burning.

Anyone but Akin. Before the primary all three GOP candidates were leading McCaskill in the polls.

The fire will burn anyway. Akin's stubborn refuse to exit the race will ensure it.

Thompson and others have to get ahead of this so he's not dragged down by Akin as collateral damage.

My BP is rising—I have a headache.

Imaging how Mitch McConnell must feel right now. No jury would convict him if he strangled Todd Akin with his bare hands.

It seems to me that it is mostly the RINO’S shooting off their mouth. They are not interested in having a conservative in the senate.

Sarah Steelman
John Brunner
Kit Bond

....several other candidates who are not prone to going “full retard.”

Actually they are not interested in having a retard in the senate.

People have no problem with true conservatives and encourage them, but not if they are stupid beyond redemption. Not every conservative candidate is worth supporting.

I just checked last evening: Akin got about 36(7)%;; Brunner got about 30-31%; Steelman around 28-29%. Rest of votes were split between 3 or 4 other candidates.

In other words, no candidate in race came close to 50%!

No hand-picked RINO should be "selected" by the party to please pro-choicers "offended by Akin!"

>> And Thompson should stop pimping the national popular vote. <<

FRED Thompson (whom a bunch of freepers told me was "the only candidate who understands federalism" four years ago) is the one pimping the National Popular Vote Compact.

TOMMY Thompson (the U.S. Senate nominee in Wisconsin and the Thompson quoted in this article) has never endorsed the National Popular Vote Compact.
