Arsenal have agreed terms to sell their captain Robin van Persie to Manchester United, the two Premier League rivals said on their websites on Wednesday.

The Dutch striker, voted the league's player of the year last season, will travel to Manchester on Thursday to discuss personal terms and complete a medical ahead of the proposed move to Old Trafford.

No financial details were immediately available from the clubs. Media reports said United would pay 24 million pounds ($37.67 million) for Van Persie who is poised to sign a four-year contract with them.

Huh. I thought buying and selling people was outlawed in the 19th century.

I wonder what it's like to get traded to a rival. Is it hard to get along with the new team? Or are the players one giant fraternity where they mainly get along?

The rich get richer. “English” soccer is a farce. Barely a handful of world class English players, surrounded by masses of talented foreigners. The oil sheiks and wealthy Americans buying up English teams are doing so because of the marketing potential, not because of a love for the game or interest in developing English talent. As long as the seats are filled and shirts sold, they could care less if the English game continues to decline.

What happened to FC Rangers can happen very soon to teams like Manchester United and Manchester City.

I am afraid that we are about to see a lot of teams start to go under, like Portsmouth FC. And it won’t be limited to just English football. The spending and heavy debt loads cannot go on forever.

Next thing you know the football clubs will come begging to the local council to have them pay for new stadia.

Knock me over with a feather on this one. This was the last place I thought RVP would end up. Rooney and RVP on the field at the same time? They kinda play the same position, really. It’s like the Lakers having both Kobe and LaBron.

I wonder what they’ll do with Berbatov, I think he can still play, but it’s just not a good situation for him at United, I know Everton sure could use him.

Or even one of the recently promoted clubs.

Who cares?

Instilling a love for sissified soccer over REAL American sports is part of the UN/One Worlder agenda.

Its already started with Goodell’s emasculation of the NFL.

What happened to “FC Rangers” was long over due. A more horrible club has never existed. Before you reply that I am some fenian, timmy, IRA supporting, pedo, pope loving scum bag all that happened is FC Rangers didn’t pay the tax man.

What are you some kind of fenian, timmy, IRA supporting, pedo, pope loving scum bag? ;)

But seriously, I don’t know how the other SPL teams are going to make it when the league is pretty much already decided before the season even starts, I wonder if other SPL teams may wind up going under because they won’t get the crowds to show up to their games.

Aye the league is no contest but with a bit of luck I will be able to watch my team kick off every second Saturday at 3 o’clock which means I can meet up with my mates have a few pints of Guinness in the Percy before the game. 12.30 kick offs on a Sunday WTF!

I read that the attendance at Ibrox for their Third-Division match, was greater than all of the SPL matches combined.

Correct.

It was bigger than ALL other Scottish matches combined!. SPL, Div 1, Div 2 and Div 3. With 1500 fans to spare.

Rangers got 49118. Celtic, the SPL champs, on the opening day 2 weeks ago, where they raise the league flag as winners of the SPL last year, got 48500.

Rangers are still the biggest club in Scotland and only Man U and poss Arsenal and Chelsea are bigger in England.

I predict Rangers will be back in the SPL next season, the other teams are losing way too much money by not having Rangers there.
