Boston’s Catholic mayor backs off vow to block Chick-Fil-A from city

BOSTON, July 27, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Boston Mayor Thomas Menino has backpedaled on remarks that he would keep Chick-fil-A off city grounds because the head of the fast food chicken restaurant supports traditional marriage - but maintaining that he hopes the chain will stay out of Boston.

Menino told the Boston Herald Thursday that he can’t actually stop the restaurant from opening there, despite his staunch opposition to its pro-family position.

“I can’t do that. That would be interference to his rights to go there,” Menino sai

Menino had warned “it will be very difficult” for Chick-fil-A to obtain licenses for a restaurant in Boston, where the chain was reportedly looking to open a location, after Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy defended his company’s donation to “anti-gay” groups such as Focus on the Family.

“Chick-fil-A doesn’t belong in the city of Boston,” Menino had said.

The remarks drew criticism from unexpected corners, including a Boston Globe editorial that chastised the mayor for not recognizing the company head’s right to religious beliefs - even as Chicago mayor and former Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel anathematized Chick-fil-A in similar terms.

In remarks the Boston Herald captured on video Thursday, Menino cast his opposition to Cathy’s stance as a matter of personal opinion. “That’s my personal opinion, as mayor I can express myself as well as anybody else. I just don’t think he should come to Boston, and feed off the people of our city who are really a city that welcomes gay marriage, welcomes inclusion, and welcomes diversity,” he said.

Asked by another reporter in the Herald video whether Menino felt the same way towards the Boy Scouts and the Roman Catholic Church, who also do not promote gay rights, Menino responded, “They’re not funding organizations who are anti-gay. They’re not funding them, okay? It’s a different story.”

In Soviet America, we don’t do gaybashing. The gays bash us!

Menino never intended to follow through with his threats. He was just posturing, in an attempt to draw negative attention to the Chik-a-fil founder and the Gay Marriage movement. We are at the point where supporting Gay Marriage in a liberal city is a positive campaign tactic.

Evidently, supporting sodomite coupling is NOT a big hit. Chick-Fil-A is doing FINE business. Marxist blatherers are retreating. May we come together, Lord, to push back the pervs.

nice to know Menino thinks that businesses that come to Boston “feed” off of the people... business = evil entities becoming rich off the backs of the poor

“Banned in Boston” should be one of their advertising campaigns.

Is Menino Roman Catholic? Who knew?

And is he “fixing” things so that Chick-Fill-A will find it “very difficult” to obtain a license to open a restaurant in Boston?

Recall that Menino helped facilitate a special deal to provide cheap land to open the muslim Brotherhood-run islamic Society of Boston.

http://islamicsocietyofboston.org/

Menino is very friendly to civilizational enemies like “gays” and islam, but very harsh on solid citizens like Dan Cathy who simply want to open a business in Boston (thus creating JOBS) and run it according to their own Christian beliefs.

Happy Ramadan, Menino!

You know it’s odd.......I held a press conference at the same time VOWING to never let a hitlerian leftist asshole block any decent American business man or woman from achieving their goals Strangely enough it wasn’t covered! .I stated to the news media (who were not there) that true American patriots who believe in the founding fathers of our country and the Constitution they gave us should never allow small-minded politically-correct anti-American, anti-capitalist Boston commie scum tyrants from harming us in the pursuit of our dreams. Death to tyrants!

No, you miss my point. The attack on Chick-Fil-A was not intended to be carried out. It was an unserious attempt to make political points with the left leaning constituency. Nothing more. Menino doesn’t really care if Chick-fil-a does well or not. He just wanted to be heard shooting off his big mouth against them and the pro-marriage movement in general.

It was intended to send a message to all potential pro-marriage contributors- Don’t do it or we might single you out, as well. Menino and the others did it for the same reason that the Gay lobby sued for the names and addresses of all the signers of the defense of marriage initiative in WA, to intimidate.

Did you join, contribute to, or sympathize with Gay Rights Groups?

Did you deny the Faith of the Catholic Church?

Here is a couple of items his pastor might want to review with his honor the mayor.

We had Chick-Fil-A chicken nuggets, salads, and beverages for our son’s Eagle Scout presentation this afternoon. Chicken’s all gone, some green salad is left.

Phooey on Boston, anyway.

Boston Market, specializing in chicken, has an outlet in my town. When are people going to start counter-demonstrations at those nationwide outlets? (They're headquartered in Golden CO not Boston, by the way.)

Creating problems for them would be just as boneheaded as the behavior of the blowhard idiots trying to trample Chick-fil-A management's First Amendment rights. The only people who would really suffer in either case are the independent franchisees of both chains and their customers.

The Gay Mafia has far overstepped its bounds in all areas of American life. It's time for a major course-correction, and I mean MAJOR!

Menino: "I just don’t think he should come to Boston, and feed off the people of our city ..."

What an Obamaesque view of what are customers!

IMHO, this lefty fiasco will be.....already is....a fantastic blitz of free advertising and a gold mine of new customers as well as increased and sustained business from regular customers. I plan to make Tuesday lunch at Chick-fil-A a standing commitment.

I hardly believe that. So many CINOs have never been excommunicated, I would be extremely surprised if his bishop threatened him.

However, I would love for all the CINOs to be excommunicated. They do nothing but confuse others, and until the bishops take a stand, the confusion will continue.
