II touched on some things, but those vignettes were meant more to contrast Vito with Michael’s predicament, rather than telling how Vito came to power....the Godfather started in 1946, whereas in II, the last Vito flashback took place, I believe in the mid-20s, which leaves the whole 1930s out.
I suspect they’ll touch on his partnership with Hyman Roth during Prohibition among other things.

Luca Brasi was kind of an interesting (if appalling) character...almost a shame we didn’t see more of him.

Godfather I & II are classics...III is a disaster. And I’ll wager that this prequel will be even worse.

If Hayden Christiansen or Natalie Portman have anything to do with the movie, I’m leaving a horses head on my seat at the movie theater.

Are they going to hire young Marlon Brando for the title role?

For an expanded view of Luca, check out the book. The movie discarded a lot.

All the characters in the original movie, but decades earlier, so they’re all in elementary school. A really, really tough elementary school. Thanks nickcarraway.
