A 28-year-old man from Gävle in eastern Sweden, previously in trouble for his llama-like spitting in strangers faces, went amok while in hospital last summer, injuring staff in an alleged nutmeg induced rage.
The man was behind a series of incidents in central Gävle in January, where he spat unknown people in the face like a llama, according to local paper Gefle Dagblad (GD).
A month later, police arrested him on suspicion of harassing two sisters by sending them death threats and rude comments via text messages.
The man was then held in custody by police until his verdict on Friday.
During the trial, the full extent of the mans aggressive behaviour became known when it was revealed that he had gone berserk while in hospital last summer, injuring one of the hospital employees badly.
The man had been held sedated for days, deemed too dangerous to rouse.
According to the 28-year-old, he had been consuming too large a quantity of nutmeg, which contains an amphetamine-like substance, inducing his raging and violent condition.
Hospital staff had tried to wake the man earlier, but were forced to sedate him again due to violent behaviour, reports GD.
However, when they tried again, the man went berserk and made a break for it, kicking one guards leg so badly that it was dislocated. He also tried to strangle the female guard before being overpowered, according to the paper.
The 28-year-old was sentenced on Friday by the Gävle District Court to four months in prison for illegal threats, harassment, damage to public property and threatening behaviour.
It’s called, “Nutmeg Psychosis.”
Stay away from the orange nutmeg.
Has anyone seen Lazmatazz lately?
I would have expected this to be a big problem in Connecticut, except thatthe nutmeg referred to in “The Nutmeg State” was fake.
Held sedated because he was too dangerous to rouse?! Then convicted and sentenced.
Imagine Obamacare’s Death Panels having the authority to hold you sedated because you’re “too dangerous to rouse” and they get to define “dangerous.”
Why is it when I think of “Llama Man” the only thing that comes to mind is John Kerry?
Don’t hit the eggnog too hard.
In case reports intoxications with nutmeg had effects that varied from person to person, but were often reported to be an excited and confused state with headaches, nausea and dizziness, dry mouth, bloodshot eyes and memory disturbances. Nutmeg was also reported to induce hallucinogenic effects, such as visual distortions and paranoid ideation. In the reports nutmeg intoxication took several hours before maximum effect was reached. Effects and after-effects lasted up to several days.
Myristicin poisoning is potentially deadly to some pets and livestock, and may be caused by culinary quantities of nutmeg harmless to humans. For this reason, it is recommended not to feed eggnog to dogs.
“She’d been drinking too much eggnog,
And we begged her not to go...”
Sounds like he IS a nutmeg..
Well, ya learn something new every day. I’ve never heard this thing about nutmeg before.
Neither had I before reading this article.
I ran a diner one summer where one of the regulars smoked nutmeg everyday. She was schizoid in every aspect of her personality.
