A vaccine delivered in an injection or nasal spray to prevent heart attacks could be available within five years.
Scientists have discovered that the drug stimulates the body's immune system to produce antibodies which prevent heart disease by stopping fat building up in the arteries.
It is the first time that the underlying cause of heart disease has been targeted. Current treatments focus on using drugs to reduce cholesterol levels and blood pressure.
The vaccine can cut the build up of fat in arteries by up to 70 per cent, according to tests by researchers at Lund University in Sweden. The fatty deposits cause arteries to narrow, meaning the body has to work harder to pump blood, and can lead to a heart attack.

So just wait, then, instead of having a heart attack now.

Expect the government to find a way to kill it.
Obama’s death panel would never allow this to happen. It would keep people alive, who would otherwise fall off the rolls.
Don’t worry, the FDA will stall this as long as possible to let one of O’Bambi’s fovorite companies become the only source.
What is it? I could use a snort of that.
Sounds like a better health-care plan than Obamacare.
Find a cure for what ails us, and then give us a pill or an injection to remedy or cure the disease, and, healthcare costs will be automatically reduced.
With Obamacare, reductions in cost will come by way of not treating old people or people who are terminally ill. To those people, the “remedy” will be, give them pain killers and send them home to die, or find a hospice for them until they’re no longer a burden on society.
Which one is the better system, and which one is more humane?
pie in da sky bye-n-bye!
In the ‘40s there was constant news stories as to the marvelous new inventions/technology that would make even the poorest man’s life...simply marvelous!

One thing that I'd be worried about is whether or not this approach could inadvertently induce deleterious immune responses.
Don’t we already sortof have that in pill form?.....It’s called Simvistatin.
Just who the hell are "they", anyway.
This won’t stop the inflammation that causes the plaque build up in the first place. Instead of dying from a coronary event, they will probably suffer from dissection or aneurysm or a host of other problems since arteries will not be able to patch the damage. JMO.

Well, in a way, they were right...I like to point out to people that “poor” people in the US have things that the wealthiest persons in the world could only dream of having as little as 40 years ago...worldwide communications in your pocket, large screen video and access to vast libraries of entertainment, automobiles with unimaginable luxury and features, longer and healithier lives, and so on. Of course, none of this made anyone “better” or even “happier”.
The stress of waiting is killing me....
The big caveat is that it is too soon to predict the possible side effects.
