Left-Wing 'Onion' Ceases Print Publication in DC, Philly
Breitbart.com/Big-Hollywood ^ | 3/23/12 | John Nolte

Obviously, no one is going to point to the elephant in the room, most especially the hopelessly left-wing BuzzFeed Politics, but due to their unwillingness to go after Obama and Democrats with the same sharp satire it uses against Republicans, "The Onion" just isn't what it was.

For a time, "The Onion" was a brilliantly funny equal opportunity offender, but over the past few years a noticeable shift toward the left and political correctness has infected its pages and therefore the quality of the writing in general.

When "The Onion," of all things, can't find anything funny about the most powerful man in the world, it's game over. And as you'll read below, the print edition is the least of their problems.

Was it their own political proclivities that protected Obama and democrats from The Onion’s sharp quill, or was was it The Onion’s fear of being Breitbarted?

Anybody remember there first post 9/11/01 edition?
“Hijackers surprised to find selves in hell”.

They were nominated for a Pulitzer for that work of art.

Google the words and there it will be in all it’s glory.

They can’t overcome their biggest competition: reality.

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve glanced at a posting title on FR and thought it had to be from the Onion or one of the satire sites...only to find out it isn’t...

I noticed that too. When Obama was an unknown taking on Hillary Clinton they weren't afraid to joke about him.

For the last year or so, their only jokes or jabs at Obama have been based on the premise that he's too good, too decent, too intelligent to counter the ignorant, evil Republicans.

They wouldn't even consider that possibility that he might have been wrong or incompetent or less than noble.

The television series, which had to rely more on broader visual gags, wasn't so biased as the website (or I presume the print version), though.

The Onion I still see here in L.A. I do pick up the lefty weeklies such as LA Weekly or the Onion....to line the bottom of my garbage to absorb the liquid crap so it won’t drip.

I stopped visiting The Onion's web site when I learned they had sent JimRob a cease and desist order, and refused to allow FR to reprint their articles.

I couldn't say if they're still funny now.

To this day though, one of the funniest things I ever read was on The Onion, where the headline was "US apologizes for liberating France" and Colin Powel was quoted as saying "what were we thinking?"

My fave onion headline was after McGreevy resigned:

TEARFUL HOMOSEXUAL ADMITS TO BEING GOVERNOR OF NEW JERSEY

I thought he deserved that, every word.

We watch the TV show sometimes, I don’t find it lefty at all. Have they gone easy on Obama, maybe, I don’t really know.

If they want to kick him around they better start now, because hopefully he’ll be gone in a few months!

Onion Radio and the online videos were great until recently. A favorite of mine is the story on the malfunction of the teleprompter in the family quarters of the Obama White House causing the president to recite his prepared dinner conversation from memory.

From today's Onion website: "Women Voters Can't Help Fawning Over Sexist GOP."

That might be funny if it were part of a balanced blend of humor aimed at a variety of targets.

As it is, though, it's just another Onion attack on Republicans -- just more pro-Obama propaganda.

All of the late nite people and comedy shows that “went after” Clinton in the media just perpetrated the story that he was an over-sexed, hound-dog and lovable rogue and NEVER wrote a satirical word about his ties to China and how he sold out his country for campaign donations. How he transfered our entire import business to China and pulled the rug out from under Japan or how the Chinese went from being 40 years behind us in space and rocket technology to dead even during his administration.
