Why Is Brit Hume Viciously Attacking Newt?

Posted on 03/21/2012 4:41:28 AM PDT by ConservativeMan55

Is there something I'm missing?

Brit Hume seems to have a personal problem with Newt?

Last night on Greta when asked why Newt was staying in the race.. Hume basically said that Gingrich likes to hear himself talk.

Seriously? What is the reason for such personal attacks?

Who cares what Brit Hume thinks? His deathly serious manner has served to hide the fact that he’s about as bright as Hannity.

Brit is a class act with great experience, a solid mind and a deep sense of personal integrity. Does someone have to agree with you 100% of the time for you to respect them? When Obama (or anyone else) does that, I call it narcissism.

"Gingrich voters do not like Santorum"

false statement! We were pretty much informed that Santorum didn't stand a chance. He was even behind Ron Paul. Santorum is the only candidate that inspires me and I don't have to hold my nose to support. Gingrich is not presidential material and Romney is the conservative version of Obama Lite.

I watched that and did not see a vicious attack as you are describing.

You may not have noticed, but the number of drama queens increases on this site (and probably others) as nomination times start and election time nears. People "see and hear" what they want to see and hear. IMO, Brit is much more a consistent friend to conservatism than Newt - mostly because it's not all about his ego.

True. When I see people cracking the whip, and getting personal for falling off the ideological plantation, I see Lib people.

Brit Hume has been viciously attacking Newt for weeks on end now. I have gone from totally respecting the guy to not being able to stand the sight of him. He has gotten his marching orders from somebody and he is a really towing the line. Hume and Kraut are tied at the hip on this one.

Hume blames Gingrich for the death of his son.

Supposedly Gingrich was involved with outing an affair between a married congressman and his son. The congressman immediately resigned from public service and the younger Hume committed suicide.

I think even less of RomFox News for allowing Papa Hume to be an analyst of this election. He is hardly unbiased.

You're going to have to get used to not standing the sight of a lot of people. Newt has a lot not to like, but I prefer his warts and all to Romney's fakeness. Why couldn't Santorum or any other decent candidate have been given a better chance?

Don't let these things get to you so much Country Girl, at the end of the day nobody really cares how you feel about Brit Hume, he's not even a candidate, and you can make yourself sick.

You including this guy in your criticism of us Gingrich supporters?

My remark didn't include ALL gingrich supporters, just the one's who would support another candidate over the only other conservative in the race.

And BTW,the fact that Jim doesn't agree with me doesn't bother me at all. But, I believe that if he came out for Santorum tomorrow 90% of Newt's FR followers would be singing Rick's praises within an hour though and wondering how anyone could dare be opposed to him.

I really did think Brit was calm, collected and summed it all up pretty well.

If I got to pick what a vicious attack would be on me. I would pick that. LOL

I think Brit is right. Newt has no chance to win. His ego is the only thing keeping him in this race.

While I think Brit is too personally involved to dissect this election, I also think newt is showing the emotional neediness that drives his priorities, and why I have felt he is not the kind of person we need stewarding the presidency.

He’s the paragon of conventional wisdom, delivered in monotone. He had me fooled, until I listened to him carefully. I can’t remember him providing insightful analysis or new information regarding any subject.

For me, this has nothing to do with Newt, since I’m supporting Rick.

Hume is a part of that elite, RNC, DNC, media, that is absolutely certain they know better than you how you should conduct your life. That elite’s candidate for the Republican party is Romney because Romney will lose to that nice black man Obama and then every thing will be hunky Dorry. See, it’s very simple, the elite are looking out for us simple folk.

You nailed it. “emotional neediness” is the weakness that I’ve always felt from Newt. As a regular local politician, teacher, etc., that wouldn’t bother me too much, it is still a weakness that has tarnished his past, and diminishes the trust factor. Don’t dislike him, and I believe in redemption, but that still doesn’t make Newt POTUS material.

He had me fooled

I don't mean to be rude, but it seems that you are easily fooled. What you wrote about not remembering is more a testament to memory problems (selective or otherwise) than Brit Hume. You pick the screen name of a serious intellectual, but you do not seem to have any of those qualities. You frustrate me because you seem to require 100% adherence to the political flavor of the day. Sad!
