Iím Going to Kill Our Baby: A Fatherís Worst Nightmare
Life Action News ^ | 3/19/2012 | Kristi Burton Brown

Posted on 03/19/2012 12:49:51 PM PDT by Morgana

I can’t recall if I first heard about him through an e-mail or a phone call. But I know that when I spoke to him on the phone, he was desperate. A normal working father who already had three other children, he wanted to know if there was something he could do to stop his wife from killing one of their children.

Now, if I stopped here with the details of my story and let you ponder the paragraph above, you would understandably be horrified. Why would a mother want to kill her youngest child? Why would the father have to call for outside help to stop her? Do nightmares like this actually happen?

Yes. They do. All the time. But the detail I left out is that this father’s youngest child was unborn. Although he and his wife had agreed to have this child – had both wanted this child – she changed her mind one day. And there was nothing he could do about it. Until a baby is born, a father has exactly no say and no rights in whether that child lives or dies.

Though I did what I could to help this father (I had a wonderful counselor talk to his wife and got a great attorney to help him), in the end, his baby was killed anyway. In a heartbreaking turn of events, the mother canceled her first abortion appointment only to schedule another one later on. The baby never had a chance. This situation remains one of the most horrible and discouraging things I have ever been involved with in my life.

As a mere outsider, I experienced such a feeling of helplessness. I can’t imagine what the father experienced. When I heard that the baby had been aborted, I felt responsible. Clearly, I hadn’t said the right thing. Clearly, I hadn’t done enough. What must the father have been going through when his wife broke the news to him? Though it’s been a few years since this occurred, I’m sure the father will never get over the intentional death of his child, caused by the child’s own mother and his own wife. Can a more horrible thing happen to a loving father?

This father would never hold his tiny baby in his strong arms for the very first time. He would never watch her – if she was a daughter – dance in the grass with flowery shoes and a flowing dress. He would never cheer him on – if he was a son – in the final football game of his high school career. This father’s only memory of his child would be how hard he had fought to save its precious life.

I share this story (with changed and omitted details to protect the parties involved) as an illustration of the cruel silencing of men that is taking place in our society. Laura Peredo and Nancy Flanders have already written about why men should have a right to speak out for the lives of children, just as women do. How can the pro-choice side command men to shut their mouths when it comes to saving babies, but demand that they pay for the methods women use to kill those same babies?

In a cruel twist of fate caused by an attempt to elevate women to an “equal” place in society, the baldfaced lies of “it’s my body” and “it’s my choice” have silenced men. Legally speaking, men have zero rights. Fathers who want to protect their children have had their hands tied by the law.

A judge heard the case of the father who was trying to stop his wife from killing their child. And though I am told the judge wanted to rule for the father – you could see it in his eyes – he found no legal basis for doing so. The child’s mother was free to take this precious new life, at her whim and pleasure. (Now, I do think that a judge could find otherwise. In fact, different fathers bringing cases may be one of the ways to change the law concerning fathers’ rights.)

Please, fathers, don’t give up. While I can’t make specific recommendations on individual cases that I’m not familiar with, as an attorney, I would say that fathers in general should consider challenging the law if their wife/girlfriend/child’s mother wants to have an abortion. Her “right” to kill your child can be challenged in court. Speak out for your child. We can never be sure when a father will get in front of the right judge who is willing to change the horrible state of the law when it comes to fathers’ rights.

The baby is not the mother’s body. He or she is a unique individual. The baby’s life should not hang in the balance of the mother’s “choice.” If a father wants to stand up for the right of his child to live, his voice should be welcomed and listened to. He should be given the right to care for that child himself, if he is willing.

I think this madness will only stop when the argument gets turned around in the opposite direction.

Some athlete or rich famous person will get a woman pregnant, that HAS the child. He will then sue based on the fact that it is entirely her body and entirely her decision, and therefore nothing to do with him. When this case is won, it will unfortunately let a lot of deadbeat dads off the hook - for a while.

I am betting that when the average sheeple finds out they will have to pay for kids these irresponsible dads are leaving all over the place, they may decide they do have an interest in this “my body, my decision” madness.

Horrific. The flip side of the coin is that you have feral men with schlong control problems who also argue that they should have the right to force the mother to abort if they are expected to pay child support.

Because, the argument goes, they have a financial interest in the decision.

A moral, pro-life society equally rejects both of these sick arguments. A sick, depraved society tries to reconcile the two.

Even in the days of the absolute monarch and tyrant Henry VIII where close to 70,000 English citizens (out of a population of 2.5 million) were executed over mostly petty crimes, a woman was allowed to "plead her belly" or delay her execution until the child was born. The social depravity which allowed Henry VIII to reign supreme had, at least, enough conscience to recognize a reality which modern society refuses to recognize.

I sure he divorced her sorry butt and sued for custody of the other kids. God knows she’s capable of murdering the others as well.

I believe that this reasoning has already been rejected by the courts. The man has no say in the death and can still be made to pay for the kid. After birth is both parents responsibility tto the child. So guys are screwed.

What fantasy-land are you living in? There's a majority of the US populace in which the fatherless children are already paid for by those of us who work and pay taxes. This may be a shocker to you but it's been this way for 15+ years already and it's getting worse, not better.

“I believe that this reasoning has already been rejected by the courts.”

That's why I said it would have to be someone rich. This would have to get to the Supreme Court for sanity to prevail.

Stop and thing about it for a second. Some rich guy has a 23 year old kid that is running with a bad crowd. He wants to stop it, but the law says, “sorry, he's over 21 so you have no rights.”

Later the kid and his friends commit a robbery and people are hurt. Since the kid has no money, one of the victims sues the rich parents. Of course it is going to be thrown out because a basic foundation principal of our system of laws has always been: if you have no rights, you have no responsibility. Can you imagine the chaos if this were not true? Sell a house and you are responsible for what the next owner does with it?

Yet that is EXACTLY what the convoluted reasoning that has been applied to abortion enforces. And I still say, get it to the highest court and they will have no choice but to overturn it.

“What fantasy-land are you living in?”

I'm living in the 10th largest city in the country where we have nine family courts that spend 90% of their time on child support cases. Multiply that times every city in America and you will have some idea of the magnitude. And if you think we pay a lot now for the little bastards irresponsible fools leave all over the country, just shut down those courts and see what we pay. Even if the scumbag is only paying 40% of his kids upkeep (we pay the rest through welfare) at least he is paying something.

It sickens me that people believe “Freedom” means they can do anything they wish and damn the consequences; that there is no price to be paid for behavior.

Even if he stayed married to her, the kids will most likely find out.

I’ve talked with a woman whose mother “shared” that her younger sibling was aborted because “she” was such a difficult birth.

She hasn’t spoken to her mother since that “sharing”.

Your post saddened me so much. It sounds like the “mom” told her daughter this info to blame her. She was the difficult birth so she was responsible for her baby brother or sister’s death. IMHO... the daughter is better off removing herself from her Mom.

I have wondered why a woman has a right to kill a person with a different DNA as hers...it is a totally seperate person..she is not allowed by law to kill her other children with diffent DNA as she had, she would go to prison for such an act....don’t want babies keep your knees together...I feel sorrow for the father that has no say in the matter...If I were male and my wife did such a thing, I would not be able to look at her with love anymore...

Abortion effects all of us....when I was a teen a girlfriend of mine had an abortion. (I didn't know about it until my 15th class reunion). As I see my kids growing up, I thought about my 'child' and what he would be today. (He would be about 30 now).

Margaret Sanger: “The kindest thing that a large family can do for its youngest member is to kill it.”

Margaret, I wish you were aborted because you were sick with that statement. how many aborted kids could have discovered a cure for cancer or cold fussion or warp speed? Think about the MILLIONS of kids aborted in the USA since Roe v Wade... and think of if 1% of them could have excelled at science or economics. What could have been..

So with an article about a father wanting to protect the life of his child, both of you opt to ignore that and bash fathers instead.

That illustrates the problem: dads are demonized by default, exactly as both of you did.

I would not even be able to look at my wife. However, during her vetting process (I think they call it “dating”) I verified that I would never have this type of problem with my wife.

And to this day, I have not. And will not.

Either I need to learn to write better or you need to learn to read better.

This discussion was that the law is basically inconsistent and flawed. A man has no rights to have any say in whether or not a woman has an abortion, yet if she chooses not to, then he is liable.

It is the same as if you sold a car to some kid down the street. He now races up and down the street in it - something you are powerless to do anything about, because it is “his car, his choice.” Yet when he smashes into something, you are told you will have to pay half of the damages.

The concept that men have no rights, yet magically have responsibilities nine months later, is ludicrous. No one has ever taken it all the way to the Supreme Court, and lower courts just look the other way.

Abortion stays ‘legal’ because it doesn't affect most people, and they are willing to just sit on the sidelines. My only premise was some means to make these people get off their rear ends and take a stand.

And yes, the majority of dads are good. But there are plenty of guys out there that have no interest in their responsibilities and do their best to shirk them. I have a friend that spent most of his professional career running them down. And he was always very busy.

The big problem with my theory is that the femNazis are so crazy that if it came down to, "OK, there can be child support or there can be abortion - but not both" they'd probably chose abortion. After all, as St. Hillary said in the 90's, "it takes a village."

The point is about fathers having the right to protect the lives of their children; invariably, when such articles are put on forums, some will sidetrack the discussion by going on about “irresponsible” fathers. That sidetracking has the effect of rendering good fathers - the majority - invisible by placing the focus on “irresponsible” fathers instead.

That noted, the points in your more recent post are accurate. It is insanity for society to tell men - as it does by having abortion as a legal choice for women - that they should be ambivalent about whether their children live or die between conception and birth and then suddenly feel a sense of responsibility to those same children upon birth.

That is a society-killing disconnect.

It results in women who abort being sociopath bitches who profess that they can do whatever they want to whomever they want, regardless of who gets hurt or killed.

It results in men stripped of any reason to care about the future.

In short, it’s the death of civilization.

The intent is not to sidetrack, but point out the ridiculous inconsistency of the law which renders men bystanders to the whole process.

And you're right. It results in men stripped of any reason to care about the future.

But good men care anyway and get involved.

If a man is on the hook financially for 18 years if the baby is born, why doesn’t he get a say in what that THIRD life has happen to it?

If a woman opts to not abort, should the man be absolved of financial responsibility? Why does the woman get to shirk her OWN responsibility to that living child?

Deadbeat dad laws are BULLSTALIN. I think they should pay what they owe.

I have never been married. I have no kids.

I have to show my socialist insecurity card to renew my driver’s license because of the State’s laws on deadbeat dads and denying them licenses.

I have NO sympathy for those who don’t want to show IDs to vote. I get far more anal probing to drive a car.

I understand what you are saying and agree. Unfortunately the courts take the stand that the welfare of the child comes first (but only if has actually been born). So until it is born they say it is all the woman’s body and she can do what she wants. Once the child is born the male must provide for it because it is best for the child. I do not agree with any of it but it is what it is.
