He won big in exit polling. They said it on fox...expect him to win by quite a bit tonight.

They do it from the exit polls. If they were willing to call it this early, that means that Gingrich had a big lead.
Results may vary from precinct to precinct during the evening as the actual vote comes in, but rarely does it diverge much from the exit poll results.

Exit polls/ monitoring key precencta... They have been doing this with amazing accuracy since the 1968 primary.
very few slip ups with the system. Florida is 2000 was a rare exception.
