I don't believe it, Rawhide is finally on tv again on Encore Westerns.
Head 'em up. Move 'em out.
Rowdy Yates went on to become quite a Star in the movies!
Loved that show as a kid! I believe the star (I forget his name) died quite a long time ago.
His name was Eric Fleming. There is a Rawhide fan site if you would like to participate.
Great series. The first four seasons are available on dvd. Actually, I always liked Eric Fleming and his character more than Eastwood’s.
Eastwood co-starred with Eric Fleming...... who got top billing. When the series ended, Fleming drowned while making a film in Peru.
Rawhide was produced by singer Frankie Laine who composed and sang the title song.
It’s been on there for quite a while
Eric Fleming! That’s the actor. Thanks for the reminder. I didn’t know Frankie Laine produced the show. Wow! Good singer.
Yes! He died quite tragically. I always loved the tv westerns as a kid. Especially my idol: Steve McQueen.
Laine’s wife-—actress Nan Gray (1936 Dracula’s Daughter)—— was also involved in his endeavors.
Frankie Laine was my favorite singer and he does that theme song real good...
Yeah but it is taking the place of Wagon Train.
I liked Mushie the best, then Wishbone.
This news brings tears to my eyes!
No kidding. I have on occasion looked up Rawhide on my cable search but it never showed up on any channel. How long has it been on Encore Westerns? The last time it was on was 1996 on FX, that was the only time that I got to see it since it went off the air in 1965. I used to watch it every week all through junior high and high school. Love that theme song!
Check out “Laredo” is also on Encore Westerns
Also check out the original 30 minute Marshall Dillon (Gunsmoke) starting at 8am tomorrow.
Hadn’t heard that they were going to run “Laredo.” Encore Westerns did air it around 1996 (along with “The Rebel”) back when I first got my dish, and was introduced to the channel.
But I have the complete “Laredo” series on dvd. Believe it or not, I bought my copy of the dvd-set from Peter Brown himself. Both he and William Smith were at a convention together, which I went to. Fun little series.
